Got this for my granddaughter when she was 5, didn't want her to be afraid of bugs. She has had this toy for 2 years and continues to use it. She and her father will collect little critters and then look them up and identify what they are...she has really used and enjoyed this gift(so has her father).

I think the title pretty much says it all. Good price for a basic introduction to bugs and for that matter anything "little" like flowers.
I purchased The Bug Book and Bug Bottle and find the information in the "Bug Book" to be an excellent companion to this product which has no information about bugs in it at all. The two items make a great starter 'Kit" for the first exploration of living creatures (small that is).

Fine toy, Feels Cheap,

This toy is fine, but all of the pieces are cheaply made. The larger viewing enclosure with a magnifier on the top and bottom is fun, and sturdier than the other items, but comes apart too easily -- frustrating for younger children. This is an adequate toy for one's own children, but due to the poor quality, I'd never give it as a gift. Once the novelty wears off (which didn't take long for my five year old), it's not much better than a magnifying glass and a jelly jar.
