Okay, I've got a problem...I'm hooked on Geotrax!!! My kids love it, I love it, my husband loves it. I've been eyeballing the Geotrack 'Rail Track Pack--Straights' set for sometime now, but the only place I could find to buy it was from the Geotrax scalpers on E-bay. (Shame on them! Really, what kind of person hoards toys to keep them in scarce supply from children, then tries to sell them for 3 to 4 times retail?!!)

Finally, I found it IN STOCK on Amazon!!!! Naturally, I bought it (here and not from the scalpers)...this particular set is extremely useful. If your kids get into Geotrax, you're going to want the additional length of track, and the half-tracks make it MUCH easier to lay out new configurations.

*UPDATE: Geotrax has put out a 20-piece Rail Track Pack that includes: 2 curves, 3 straight tracks, 4 half tracks, left and right switcher tracks, 1 cross track, and assorted signage & trees. Finally, a track pack with the stuff you really need to expand design possibilities. Kind of makes this Straights Rail Track Pack obsolete.

My girls love their GeoTrax set. They're 6, 4 and 2, and it keeps all of them entertained for a couple of hours at a time. However, until now, setup has been a headache. Because of the limited availability of the straight tracks, you were very limited as to the configurations you could use setting up the track. Basically, it felt like a puzzle that you had to get right in order for the two ends of track to line up. However, the new pack of straights makes the options limitless. We have been able to significantly expand the size of our railroad operation, reaching destinations never before possible (like WAY under the bed ;). It's no longer difficult to put it together because there are so many more possibilities. I have been waiting for them to come out with this particular track pack since we bought the main set, and I couldn't be more relieved.

The Geotrax train is a VERY rugged and durable toy. It is also a great value. My kids have played for hours and hours and still have great enthusiasm and interest for this toy.

This kit makes it possible to connect both directions of the criss-cross track (like a figure 8). You'll need four of the 3" pieces of straight track to accomplish this. The other way to connect the criss-cross is to use two of the new 18" diameter curves found in the "Conductor's Crossing" kit from the "Air and Sea" series. Note that ALL curves are 12" diameter, except for these new special 18" diameter curves.

It is best to NOT use the 18" diameter curve track, so that all of your curves line up when you use the "Elevation Series" kits with the stanchions. The stanchions hold the upper level track above the lower level track. With the stanchions, the track pieces MUST be on top of each other and follow the same exact contour.

The 6" straight track found in the Rail Track Pack (STRAIGHTS) is a welcome addition. This is the only kit that offers a high number of rail straight track. You'll need these to make some really good and explanded layouts.

My son age 5 and daughter age 8 both love the Geotrax set!!! Once we got the extra straight track sets(we bought 2 sets)
they were able to configure the track in many different ways without their parents help!! We would highly reccomend the GeoTrax system to anyone who loves trains no matter their age!!!

The Straights are a must have for anyone wanting to build there own track designs. It's amazing how much of a difference these few pieces make! If you can swing it get two, it's worth it!

Too many of Amazon's partners are gouging on this track pack, which should probably retail for around $18. If you buy two standard track packs (which often sell from $18 from a number of vendors) you'll get six 6" pieces and eight 3"pieces -- plus all the curved track, the "Y" track pieces, and other assorted pieces. In other words, for $36, you can buy two track packs, and get MORE straight track plus a bunch of other stuff. Do not pay $50 for this set.

a while back fisher price sold the straight tracks pac as a seperate entity. Now you can only find at outrages prices. Fisher Price should be ashamed that they now force you to buy different pakages to get a few straights.

Having extra straight trax pieces is very helpful in our trax design. And with the straight pack set it was just what we needed.

If your goal is to include the crossing pieces, you need at least 2 half length pieces for each intersection - BUT - it is soooo much easier to use them if you have 4 half length pieces. I believe the Tracktown Railway came with two of the crossing pieces, so you need at least two boxes of the straights to make the most use of the crossing pieces. This is the only reason I am not giving 5 stars.
