This is a must if you have the Geotrax starter set. My son received the basic Tracktown Railway at 2 1/2 and we immediately went out and bought him elevation track packs. Adults have to set the layout up, and its a little bit trickier in 3 dimensions, but the elevation is what makes Geotrax way better than any other train set!

Only drawback is that you can't just buy one elevation track pack, especially with this one. You need to buy one of the other sets, like Ramps, in order to get higher so you can use these pieces. We have 1 of each of the 3 elevation packs and that's enough to connect all the elevation accessories we have (clock tower, suspension bridge, mile high mountain). Of course, the elevation pieces can be used at ground level, though you get more pieces for your money in buying rail track pack or road track pack.

Definitely add to your Geotrax, its worth it! Your child will love it and so will you!

This set allows you to build layouts that are three dimensional (i.e. train is raised above ground level). This type of track makes layouts so much more fun! You'll need to buy two of these and probably two of the Elevation Track Pack (RAMPS) kits.

Each elevation track piece (dark green in color) has a diamond shape in the center of the track. The purpose of this is to automatically get cars back on track if they happen to become de-railed or slightly off track, which is a very nice feature.

Make sure that you place an elevation track piece at the top AND bottom of the ramps (found in the Elevation Track Pack (RAMPS) kit). This is because the newer engines that go forwards AND backwards need the cogs at the bottom of the ramp to go backwards up the ramp.

As a side note, the Elevation Track Pack (STRAIGHTS AND RAMPS) is probably not worth buying because it only has 6 stanchions instead of the usual 8.

If you want some great track layout ideas, search eBay for "geotrax track layout manual". There are four manuals available and the newest ones (Volumes 6 & 7) use the Grand Central Station and the newly released Fly By Bridge. Volume 7 has layouts that fit on the KidKraft train table. Both of these manuals use the Elevation Track Pack kits.
