GeoTrax Elevation Track Pack (RAMPS),

The "Elevation Track Pack (RAMPS)" is one of three track kits offered from the Elevation Series. The other two kits are the "Elevation Track Pack (FLATS), and the "Elevation Track Pack (STRAIGHTS & RAMPS)".The RAMPS kit is great because it includes 4 ramps, which is enough track to elevate the train from level 0 (ground level) to level 1, level 2, and then all the way back down to level 1 and then level 0. You will need this kit to use the Sky High Suspension Bridge (at level 1), and the High Chimes Clock Tower (at levels 1 and 2). The other useful kit that you should purchase along with this one is the Elevation Track Pack (FLATS). Once the train is elevated, you will want to stay at that level. The FLATS kit includes a few straights, and just as importantly, the extra stanchions needed to hold the track up. The STRAIGHTS & RAMPS kit is NOT very useful because it includes only 6 stanchions (the supports that hold up the track). There are NOT enough stanchions to use the Elevation track in the way that it was intended. The only disadvantage is that the layouts get quite complex because now the layout is three dimensional (instead of two). This may present a challenge to use up all of the track pieces and to build a fun and interesting layout. You'll run out of track and have to go through a number of iterations, and time, to get it all connected. All things considered, it is a great toy that is very rugged and it will keep your child's interest for a long time. For some great track layout ideas, search for "Geotrax Track Layout" on eBay.

This is a must-have item if you want to add the Clock Tower to your set. It also works well with the other "elevation" sets, particularly Mile High Mountain. The set includes the following: 4 ramps (these are made from two shorter pieces that are screwed together) 2 curves 2 short straights 2 guard rails 2 end ramps 8 arches (2 supports and 1 crosspiece each) The crosspieces of the arches have a picture of how the ends of the track should be aligned. The screws are a little tough but never need to be removed. The set is enough to run up two full levels and back down again (my son has played with this set just by itself having fun running up, around and racing back down). You can also make two single-level bridges, a single level bridge and a ramp down from Mile High Mountain, or many other setups. This set literally adds a new dimension to a Geotrax set. Lots of fun. The short pieces also allow for different configurations that may have been frustrating in the past. Definitely fun.

We have two of these sets to go with our larger geotrax collection, and have made elements up to 4 units high. At first I assumed they'd be most fun with the elevated structures like the clock or the mountain, but actually these are a lot of fun all by themselves. Other than the ramps, the green elevated track can be used either elevated or in place of regular track on flat ground. These kits thoughtfully include some half-length straight pieces which give you many more options - for example, now you can use both arms of the 90-degree cross pieces that come with some of the other sets. And I'm impressed with the design - even when we make a 4-ramp roller-coastereque descent, the train still stays on the track if you use the guardrails on the curves.

The new track are really cool to put together though a little tougher then the other track for younger children. My 4 1/2 year old loves it but my 3 year old just can't put them together nor does him understand the concept. My husband and I have alot of fun building large 3D tracks all over our living room.Great toy but the elevation series is not for 2 1/2 year olds maybe 3 1/2.

This is a must if you have the Geotrax starter set. My son received the basic Tracktown Railway at 2 1/2 and we immediately went out and bought him elevation track packs. Adults have to set the layout up, and its a little bit trickier in 3 dimensions, but the elevation is what makes Geotrax way better than any other train set!Only drawback is that you can't just buy one elevation track pack. This one you need because it has the most ramps, but you have to buy another one to be able to do anything once you get up to the top. I recommend the flats set. We have 1 of each of the 3 elevation packs and that's enough to connect all the elevation accessories we have (clock tower, suspension bridge, mile high mountain). Definitely add to your Geotrax, its worth it! Your child will love it and so will you!

This is our first purchase of GeoTrax products. We bought it for our 2 yr old son. He has learned to use the IR remote quickly. The oval track can be used with or without the elevation. This is product is track only. We also bought an the scenic engine and cars (an additional pkg). Trains can work on "toddler power" i.e. being hand pushed or via the battery operated remote for both on and off the track. We LOVE the self correcting track which puts the engine AND cars back aligned and on track. This is especially helpful for our toddler's determination to do things all by himself. There also seems to be a battery saver timer that engages after a several minutes of lack of interaction or inactivity. We will be buying more GeoTrax products.

We bought this set along with the Working Railway set for my son for Christmas. This being our first foray into Geotrax (we're a Thomas the Tank Engine clan at home), we didn't get any additional flat pieces as has been suggested by others (when is enough, enough?).The first thing to understand about this is SPACE. You'll need at least a 6x6 floor space, with crawl-around room in order for this to be anything more than a bother. If you have a room you can put it in and leave it..even better. Because otherwise, if you put it up and take it down often, trust me, by the time you finish putting it all back together, your child will be playing with something else by then (I have a three year old). I took this set over to the g-parent's house on Christmas and it took 3 professional engineers approximately an hour to come up with a workable solution to this set (along with the Working Railway set I had bought). The main problem being that unless you specifically buy more junction pieces, the train can only go in one direction and you inevitably end up with a track that requires you to manually place the train on a particular section if you ever want to use it. I know that's hard to understand, but the set is designed to go in only one direction due to the "geo-motion" capabilities. Without turnaround pieces, or many junction pieces, you'll be limited on how much of you track you can really use. Personally, I Love the Geotrax over the manual Thomas stuff, but my son still favors Thomas. But frankly, I think the elevation stuff is best left to those who have a permanent set up somewhere in their home, and not for those who like to clean up after playtime.

My son (and Husband) have been collecting the Geo Track Series over the past year and we have 2 huge rubbermaid totes full of trains and track. Not only does it keep my 3 year old and his friends busy but my Husband has a lot of fun trying to see how big and complex he can make the track. The elevatoin packs are their favorites because they like to see how high it can go before they need to use the guard rails. We've gotten it to 3 ramps high (we need more track) and the trains still handle smoothly.
