geoff wilson's knots and rigs,
By A Customer
This review is from: Geoff Wilson's Complete Book of Fishing Knots & Rigs (Paperback)
This is a very well designed book with large diagrams and clear concise text. The author's drawings are a real treat. It covers basic and advanced knots for fresh and saltwater fishing plus fairly detailed information on specific rigging for different baits. I have 6 or 7 different books on fishing knots/rigs and this is my favorite. The price is right, too.

I found this book to be excellent for teaching one to tie all kinds of knots. The instructions as well as the illustrations make it easy to learn almost any knot. Purchased from Amazon used and saved a bundle of money. The used book was in superb condition!

This review is from: Geoff Wilson's Complete Book of Fishing Knots & Rigs (Paperback)
This is a very good book for virtuall all fishermen. However, the illustrations do not always accurately decribe the physical actions which are often truncated in the illustrations. I personally contacted Geoff via e-mail through his publisher when I was experiencing problems cinching up a braid to mono knot. He responded to my e-mails, but it did not help simply because the photos in the book and the text did not jib so he couldn't understand my problem as I described the process. The better choice, all around, is Geoff Wilson's "Fishing Knots and Rigs with DVD." Some, but not all, knots are clearly illustrated in the DVD. It takes a little getting used to the Aussie accent, but the the video work is excellent. Unfortunately, the video only covers a very few of the knots illustrated. It did, however, illustrate the particular knot I was having difficulty with and when I followed the video, the knot worked easily and perfectly, although the description in the book is identical to the other book's description and can be misleading. But the video cleared it all up. This review also applies to Geoff Wilson's Guide to Rigging Braid, Dacron, and Gelspun Lines inasmuch and the aforementioned book, "Geoff Wilson's Fishing Knots and Rigs with DVD," is much more comprehensive and includes most, if not all, of the knots in the other two books. Go for the one with the DVD and you won't be disappointed.
