5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Educational Material
This is an excellent coloring book! It has a wealth of information about all of the countries of the world. Although this was written for a 5th or 6th grade level, this coloring book could be appropriate for children as young as 4 or 5 to begin to introduce them to world geography. 3.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good
I am a geography and world history teacher and this book was suggested at a workshop I attended. I teach 9th & 10th grade. Some of my 9th grade students HATED coloring and some of them thought it was great. I might suggest using this as an alternate assignment for visual learners or anyone with dyslexia who has a hard time creating maps.

There are supplemental maps in the back of the book which are designed to help identify major empires throughout the ages (e.g. Ottoman Empire) which can be very helpful for students of history in addition to students of geography. The section containing country flags was also a great resource.

5.0 out of 5 stars have used it as ateaching tool at the post secondary level, November 30, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: The Geography Coloring Book (2nd Edition) (Paperback)
I first began using this text at Tompkins-Cortland Community College in 1992. Most of my students used the book in the two Geography class that were required in the AAS program for travel and Tourism. Since moving to North Carolina I still use it in the courses that I teach in the Raleigh area. Students find the text a joy to use and it helps with their understanding of the political and physical areas of the subject. Since most students do not have formal Geographic training it is one of the best tools that thay have for self study. Many use the text in the travel industry after they enter the job market. The price is also very affordable. Just a great book. I have at least four myself. Even my wife the Geography hater loves this publication.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great way to learn Geography, September 21, 1999

This review is from: The Geography Coloring Book (2nd Edition) (Paperback)
I have taught geography for more than ten years and this is a fun and useful way to introduce new countries as well as concepts like place, direction and distance. I also recommend a great book for teachers and parents to read called Geographical Literacy. Incrediable new ideas for teaching kids the rudiments of geography. Check it out at Amazon.

4.0 out of 5 stars Deserves better paper, January 2, 2003

This review is from: The Geography Coloring Book (2nd Edition) (Paperback)
The second edition of "The Geography Coloring Book" suffers from the use of a slicker kind of paper that does not color well with Berol Prismacolor pencils. The paper also has a tendency to roll up at the edges with use. The publishers should consider reprinting the excellent edition on a paper more suitable for its intended use. It is only for that reason that I gave it four rather than five stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful geography teacher, April 20, 1998
By A Customer
This is a great way to learn world geography. By coloring and reading about the country, state, river, mountain range, or territory, we learn in many ways at once. It stays with you. There's the visual, the kinetic, and auditory learning, if read outloud, like we do with my jr. high daughter. It's challenging for her, but she's getting it. As a homeschooling tool it can't be beat. It's great for adults, too!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book!, May 11, 2009
By
Cathy (Orange County, CA) - See all my reviews
My oldest son used this book in his 9th grade honors history class. At the time I thought that was odd, to have an honors student coloring. However, with all the budget cuts with schools, they have dropped History for 9th graders, which means no more Geography in high school. I have 2 daughters that are home schooled in 8th grade and I ordered this book so they could learn where the countries are. My son, that used this book, really knows his Geography well. I have just started with my girls on this book and it's awesome. They are learning countries they have never heard of, along with knowing where the countries are that they have heard of. It's very helpful to color the names of the country, then outline it, color it in, and read about it. I highly recommend this book. I am really enjoying learning the countries as well. There are plenty of places that I have heard of but can't quite place where they are exactly and this book is a fun way to figure that out.

4.0 out of 5 stars A fun way to learn, July 17, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: The Geography Coloring Book (2nd Edition) (Paperback)
This book comprises large plates for coloring along with keys for each plate. It gives enough information to be educational, but not so much as to be overwhelming. It offers a fun way to learn about all the coutries of the world and is appropriate for both school students and interested adults
