Product Description
Getting Inside the Mind of Nature: Discover the simple but powerful mathematics of the underlying geometric figures that shape our world

Can geometry be exciting?

It can for those who can appreciate the beauty of numbers and their relationships.

This book contains a meticulous geometric investigation of the 5 Platonic Solids and 5 other important polyhedra, as well as reference charts for each solid.

Poly (many) hedron (face) means "many faces." Polyhedra are 3 dimensional figures with 4 or more faces, or sides. These polyhedra are reflections of Nature herself, and a study of them provides insight into the way the world is structured. Nature is not only beautiful, but highly intelligent. As you explore the polyhedra in this book, this will become apparent over and over again.

The book contains a geometric explanation of the Phi Ratio and Fibonacci series, and a detailed analysis of the pentagon, which forms the basis for many of these solids. The pentagon is composed entirely of Phi relationships, and is integral to a proper understanding of sacred geometry.

With over 140 full-color illustrations, this book is perfect for teachers and students of geometry alike. It is a must for those who are serious about sacred geometry.

This book is dedicated to those who can appreciate the logic of numbers and the beauty of nature, for they are both aspects of the same unifying principle.

Prerequisites: knowledge of simple algebra and elementary trigonometry. No brainiac math skills required! Only the ability to appreciate nature's own logic.

5.0 out of 5 stars An exciting look at Geometry, November 19, 2007
Reviewed by Cherie Fisher for Reader Views (11/07)

I was a little worried when I first agreed to review this book because, even though I loved Geometry in school, it has been several years since I took the class. But I found "A Geometric Analysis of the Platonic Solids and Other Semi-Regular Polyhedra" to be very reader-friendly. The author's enthusiastic approach to geometry immediately drew me in. The definitions and the clearly-defined illustrations (over 140 throughout the book) also brought me up-to-speed very quickly. This book is an excellent resource for those studying geometry and I wish that something like this had been available to me when I was in school.

The author introduces a geometric explanation of Phi Ratio, the Fibonacci Series and the Pentagon. I was particularly fascinated with the Fibonacci Series and its relationship to nature. Once you really start understanding the sequence of the Fibonacci Series it becomes really obvious in many life forms from plants to shells to the human body. It repeatedly shows the incredible intelligence behind every form of life on this planet and that nothing is created randomly. The book also includes an investigation of the five Platonic Solids and other prominent polyhedra. Each theory includes very detailed reference charts and diagrams.

The author states that "A Geometric Analysis of the Platonic Solids and Other Semi-Regular Polyhedra" is for teachers, researchers and the Generally Curious. As one of the Generally Curious I found this to be an excellent book and would recommend it to anyone who is studying Geometry or has an interest in Math. The Prerequisites listed are: knowledge of simple algebra and elementary trigonometry. No brainiac math skills required! You only need the ability to appreciate nature's own logic. I applaud the author's fascinating approach to this topic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enhanced with more than 140 full-color illustrations, September 5, 2007
By Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) - See all my reviews
"A Geometric Analysis Of The Platonic Solids And Other Semi-Regular Polyhedra" by writer, researcher, and original thinker Kenneth MacLean provides teachers, science students, and non-specialist general readers with an informed and informative introduction to the Phi Ratio as it is commonly encountered in the world. Offering a fascinating perspective, the reader is provided with a view of geometry and its patterns that is fully accessible to anyone with a high school level of competency in mathematics. Methodical, even elegant, the formulas and equations reflect the beauty of numbers and three dimensional figures. Enhanced with more than 140 full-color illustrations, "A Geometric Analysis Of The Platonic Solids And Other Semi-Regular Polyhedra" is a very highly recommended addition to personal and academic library Mathematics & Geometry reference collections and supplemental reading lists.
