Many Errors,
By Steve Hansen (Seattle, WA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Geometry: Applications and Connections (Hardcover)
My son uses this book in his high school geometry class. I have sat down with him many times to help him with his homework. In one chapter alone we found 3 major errors. It is also filled with mind numbingly easy questions or technically unsound questions. I am very frustrated with this book. [It] takes a difficult subject and makes it all the more confusing with poor questions and incorrect answers. I am a math major, but even someone with a basic math education can see the problems in this book.

A VERY disappointing textbook,
By Math Nerd "Johnny" (Asia) - See all my reviews

First of all, I got to say that this is the worst possible textbook a teacher at my school could ever pick as a learning resource. What is even worse is that you have a local teacher as your instructor who can't even teach. A double whammy! Honestly, about 40 percent of students in my class are failing in what is now, the first year of geometry with proof. The teacher (a native local who can't even speak proper english) is already making the task hard for us by teaching us ineffectively, and here is the book which makes our tasks even harder!
This book contains full of errors, (ie: wrong answers in answer key)seems to be outdated(1993),and provides very few lousy examples (compared to my previous books I have studied) to demonstrate a particular concept in geometry. As well as that, some problems in this book are unconventional and ambiguous. Sometimes you see lots of similar questions in the exercise section which are not even explained in the examples section! For a beginner in geometry with proof, I would most certainly NOT recommend this book at all, although it may be a useful cross reference source (although not recommended). There are tons of better geometry textbooks out there, which are far, far better than this.

This is a great book. I tried to learn with lots of books before this, but this book makes hard concepts easy and fun to understand. I highly reccomend it.
