This highly readable book sheds new light on the fascinating but hitherto barely acknowledged phenomena of Geopathic Stress (GS) - and, thanks to its clear and informative language and instructive diagrams, makes it more readily understood by a wider audience. GS expert Jane Thurnell-Read explores the growing body of evidence, backed by her own experiences in the field of Health Kinesiology, that points to the 'skewing' of the Earth's natural magnetic field as a source of human malaise, stress and even extreme ill-health. The feeling that living or working in a particular house or office is 'bad for you' is shown to be a sound, even primeval, instinct. Chapters explain the nature of GS and how its energies react with the body, and tackle how to detect it using dowsing and kinesiology (a way of testing muscles for energy stresses). Once detected, the solutions involve a range of holistic approaches based on Eastern concepts of yin and yang and Ch'i' energy flow. Self-help 'tips' include the strategic positioning of coils, mirrors and crystals.

My childhood ambitions were to be a writer and a missionary - I've managed to achieve one of those.
Writing is something I do naturally - it's a wondrous process too - the fact that the marks on the page can mean something - convey information, inspire, sadden, make you laugh .. what an extraordinary thing.
My main interest is in health and complementary/alternative medicine, particularly kinesiology, which I practiced for 20 years and taught for more than 10.
Apart from writing books, I also research and develop test kits for therapists. When I'm not doing all this, I spend time going to the gym and riding my bike. My favourite type of biking is longish distances. I've ridden across the US (4200 miles) and ridden from Lands End to John O'Groats in the UK. I've also ridden my bike in lots of European countries and in India and east Africa - it's a great way to see the world, stay fit and clear the mind.
