Don't waste your money!,

This review is from: George Bernard Shaw [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I have been writing an MA research on Shaw for three years now, and I wanted to add somthing extra to my study so I bought this tape. Unfortunately it was not as I expected it to be. There is nothing new or interesting in it. It is actually very boring and the pictures that are included can be found in any book about Shaw. I expected it to be done in a modern way, but it is merely a gathering of few pictures and very few information about Shaw. I expected it to include some recordings of Shaw's voice or even some rare photoes of him. What irritated me most about the tape is that the narrator's voice is being interrupted several times by the sound of the rain. The only thing that I liked about it is the view of Shaw's house in Dublin and London. If you want to buy this tape just to have general information about Shaw, it will not help you and it will not be your best choice even if you are not a specialist in Shaw. In fact some information about Shaw in this tape are misleading and sometimes not accuarate. I'd rather read a long book about Shaw than watch this very very concise semi-biography.I advise you to save your money for better information you can get about Shaw from Amazon.com.

This video is basically a biography of George Bernard Shaw, but not of the quality of A&E's Biography! I was expecting to see a few scenes from Shaw's plays, but they are not shown and only barely mentioned. Basically this video is just one unseen narrator telling the surface facts of Shaw's life as still pictures of Shaw and his family and associates are shown. The only moving shots are some amateurish scenes of modern Dublin. There are no interviews with professors or actors, just that one unseen narrator through the whole video. Skip this one and wait for one by A&E.
