4.0 out of 5 stars Liberal Reader- "To See What It Says"
I'll admit it, i haven't read this book- but I want to. Yes, I am a liberal. Yes, I dislike Bush and voted against him. Yes, I will probably disagree with most of this book. So?

I see all of these angry readers who have said, "I don't agree with Bush's beliefs, therefore I don't recomend it" or "Bush is a hypocrit, reponsible for this or that, so I don't...

1.0 out of 5 stars The Biggest Liar
A friend of mine let me borrow this book. I found it to be filled with lies. President Bush has lied to the American people and this book proves it. Presdident Bush's ideas of faith, principle and patriotism are not my idea faith, principle and patriotism. I would not recommend this book to anyone.

I'll admit it, i haven't read this book- but I want to. Yes, I am a liberal. Yes, I dislike Bush and voted against him. Yes, I will probably disagree with most of this book. So?

I see all of these angry readers who have said, "I don't agree with Bush's beliefs, therefore I don't recomend it" or "Bush is a hypocrit, reponsible for this or that, so I don't recomend his book."

I don't know what any of that has to do with deciding on buying the book. I want to read this book for 1 reason and 1 reason only- to see what it says! Not to agree,or necessarily believe- but definatly to see what Bush wants us to percieve about him. It's not going to replace my bible, my Constitution or my brain.

A lot of people here seem to think that anything that expresses a viewpoint other than your own is automatically 'bad' or 'crap.' Well, that is very illiberal thinking. Read opposing viewpoints, know the arguments on both sides, and even if you hate the man and hate his politics, know what he has to say. Really, we should all listen before we argue! Otherwise we are just talking to the dust.

5.0 out of 5 stars watch for liberal agression, February 6, 2004
This review is from: George W. Bush on God and Country: The President Speaks Out About Faith, Principle, and Patriotism (Hardcover)
Watch for reviews from those liberals who are livid with their hatred of Bush. Reviews are supposed to present your opinion of the book, not the subject. If someone spews hateful rhetoric about Bush, they have obviously not read the book and have no legitimate criticism of it. Some may also give invalid criticisms by attacking something not related to the purpose of the book.

This is a valuable resource for understanding the role of the President's faith in his life and in his work. Regardless of whether or not you agree with the politics or faith of Bush, this book successfully achieves the author's goal of using Bush's public speeches to show his true colors. This is an intriguing look at the President.

If you're filled with hate, don't waste your time spouting off because any critical thinker can see through your political bias. If you're really interested in the topic, check out this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars George W. Bush is a good review., February 6, 2004

This review is from: George W. Bush on God and Country: The President Speaks Out About Faith, Principle, and Patriotism (Hardcover)
I found this book to be encouraging and intriguing. I learned a lot about the heart and compassion of President Bush. The book will help the reader realize the depth of President Bush's Christian faith and what motivates his leadership. He has always seemed sincere to me, but now through this book he has become even more real. It seems he cares about all aspects of our nation and each individual in it. Read this book for a fresh perspective and get away from the rehtoric of the common media.

5.0 out of 5 stars Veni Vidi Vici, August 27, 2004
This review is from: George W. Bush on God and Country: The President Speaks Out About Faith, Principle, and Patriotism (Hardcover)
These are truly inspirational words from a man and two ghostwriters who have been through it all. From college coke binges to recreational genocide, the frank admissions of George W. Bush are downright refreshing in this era of government goons who throw metaphorical matches at our great Constitution. President Bush is a true champion for freedom, and the very fact that this book was published is testament to his persuasive brand of bumfuzzle logic. While everyone may not agree with his policies, his devotion to reuniting church and state elevate him, in my book, to the level of the great Saint Apollyon...a pioneering spirit and zest for life not seen since the dark ages.

5.0 out of 5 stars Let's review the BOOK and not the President, October 1, 2007
This review is from: George W. Bush on God and Country: The President Speaks Out About Faith, Principle, and Patriotism (Hardcover)
It's kind of amusing that people have reviewed the book and probably never read it. They just see that Bush wrote it and gave it one star. People must have really sad lives when they get pleasure of giving a bad review for the book because they don't like Bush.
He does have a very strong faith and the book is a good read. I would tell anyone to read it unless they are a closeminded liberal who can't see past politics and read a book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beyond their comprehension, January 26, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: George W. Bush on God and Country: The President Speaks Out About Faith, Principle, and Patriotism (Hardcover)
An excellent, deeply personal and revealing book.

It should not be surprising that such a man as George W. Bush, a man of deep faith and personal conviction -- who does what he does not because of polls or public opinion, but because he knows what and in Whom he believes -- is beyond the understanding of the liberal mind. Such people as the modern Left, who see only darkness and hypocrisy in others because that is what they instinctively sense in themselves, simply cannot comprehend such a man as Mr. Bush.

The mentality that maintains that "morals do not matter" in excusing the wretched actions of Bill Clinton; that the violent murder of an unborn child is permissible, so long as the mother does not want the baby; that a war which has freed millions from the brutal hand of a dictator (whose 35-year reign of terror included the torture and mass murder of hundreds of thousands, some of whom were fed alive into shredding machines) somehow is 'wrong'; that class warfare (wealthy versus poor) and the stirring of race hatred are valid campaign tactics; and that the sovereignty of the United States should be sacrificed to the U.N. in the name of 'world opinion' -- such a mentality has no right whatsoever to question the motives or patriotism of this president. Yet they continue to attack, making one venomous accusation after another, knowing that a lie told long and loudly enough will be believed as if it were true.

I personally do not agree with every policy decision made by Mr. Bush, but I do trust him. Greed and power are NOT his driving motivations -- his faith, his sense of duty, and his desire to protect his nation ARE.

The Left has embraced 'The Price of Loyalty,' a book written by a Democrat (Suskind) with a long history of opposing Mr. Bush, and based on the account of a fired former Bush cabinet member with an axe to grind. Those still in the cabinet have stated for the record that the president depicted in the book is NOT the man with whom they have had daily personal contact, and that Paul O'Neill (who since has recanted some of his words, and has stated that he likely will vote for Mr. Bush come November) has allowed himself to become involved in a book that is both slanted and untruthful. Yet, in the eyes of the Left, anything slamming this president must be true, while anything supporting him must be false.

It is interesting to note that Abraham Lincoln (a man revered as one of our greatest presidents) also took his people to war over issues of morality and national security, relied upon his faith in God as his primary guidepost in daily decision making, and was considered a 'tyrant' in his day. He was so hated by half the population of his country that ultimately he was assassinated -- by an actor of liberal bent.

George W. Bush is such a man as Lincoln. And in years to come, with the value of hindsight, he too will be recognized as one of the greatest presidents in American history -- assuming, that is, that liberal revisionism does not distort our recorded history, as so often it strives to do.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Depiction of a Faith Filled President, February 7, 2006
By
This review is from: George W. Bush on God and Country: The President Speaks Out About Faith, Principle, and Patriotism (Hardcover)
this is a wonderful depiction of the faith that our president carries with him every day. I guess those who support crooked, adulturous leaders will have no use for this but those of us who know and live the truth every day will appreciate a fact filled presentation instead of a cover to cover lie fest (Kitty).

This review is from: George W. Bush on God and Country: The President Speaks Out About Faith, Principle, and Patriotism (Hardcover)
This is a very interesting book than grants us great insight into the personality and religious beliefs of our current president. I recommend it to anyone, regardless of political or religious views, who wishes to better understand George W. Bush and his goals.

I presume that most of the people giving this book a low rating have a political bias. Disregard those reviews. This is an excellent read for anyone who wishes to learn more about President Bush.
