5.0 out of 5 stars One of my favorite Carlin DVD
This is one of my favorite Carlin DVD! I think if you like George Carlin and think he's funny, you should buy this DVD and you'll realize he's very very funny and a pure genious! I also suggest you pick up "Life is worth losing" Carlin's next DVD soon to be released. I don't get offended about anything Carlin says but in that one i got offended with like 2 things he said...

3.0 out of 5 stars not what I remember
Jammin in New York was the funniest stand up by Carlin I've ever seen. My issue with this DVD is that it's a different show and recording then the one I had on VHS. Having both of them and knowing it very well it was disapointing that the show they recorded for the VHS version was way better. The DVD version he stumbled over jokes and it just seemed not as fluent. Overall...

I also suggest you pick up "Life is worth losing" Carlin's next DVD soon to be released. I don't get offended about anything Carlin says but in that one i got offended with like 2 things he said. Then he explained more and i just realized how stupid i was. Carlin is always making you step back as a human being to look at yourself and people as a whole. Look at how ignorant we sometimes act but at the same time talking about all the little things that we all do but never talk about. BUY THIS DVD i have 11 george carlin HBO specials and i never will regret paying a penny for them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Legendary Carlin, March 24, 2003

If you want to laugh in hysterics and relate to ordinary every day life, you will want to watch this video. Carlin does it again, as he describes words and phrases in relation to air travel and more. He is one of the best comedians of over two decades and after seeing Jammin' In New York (1992) for the first time, I do not at all regret this purchase. This one should be in any Carlin fan's, albeit, comedy-lover's video collection. Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic Carlin, May 14, 2003

This video is a perfect example as to why George Carling is known as such a great comedian. His opinions reflect your opinions you're yo scared to share. His acts are funny, as well as very intelligent. Every word he says we can relate to. When he performs, you know he is passionate in it. I'd reccomend this to evryone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Performance by the Cynical Comedian!, November 2, 1999

George Carlin outdid himself with this one. No matter how many times I watch it or listen to it on audio tape (recorded from tv) I laugh hysterically. His part about the airports and other 'universal similarities' will ring a bell for everyone!

5.0 out of 5 stars Carlin at his best, February 8, 2000

I have been searching for another Carlin video that is on the same level as this one, but I have yet to find it. I think that this is one of his greatest performances, he seems to be having fun on stage, and he just lets loose with his sarcasm and wit. I don't think anyone can be disappointed with this one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not at His Best, Still Very Good, August 21, 2009

George Carlin is one of my favorite stand-up comedians--certainly in the top four--and I own all of his DVDs. "Jammin' in New York" (1991) is not one of his best. It's not as funny because George is angrier in this one, raving and bloviating -- a curmudgeon who has veered too far off his own track. There's less profanity and fewer of his down and dirty jokes. He's anti-everything in this outing. If you're a golfer, don't even go near this one because George wants to turn all of the thousands of golf courses into places to build homes for the homeless. Golf to him is an inane, elitist sport.
A funny stream is his riff on airline trips, and he is very sharp targeting those announcements that drive you nuts. When he goes off a long rant about the indestructibility of Planet Earth toward the end of his performance, you sense that the comedian has surrendered to contentiousness, and you can hear him losing his audience. His harangues get tiresome. There are thin lines between satire, comedy, and polemics, and in this one he's lost that delicate balance.
His delivery and inventiveness (he's a perceptive, shrewd dude) are, as usual, great. This one isn't as political as some.
What to look for is his take on how aggressive the U.S. is, how willing to wage war against non-whites. This DVD focuses on the Gulf War. Local drinking water and the first George Bush are also subjects for discussion. Not a great DVD but a lot better than many of the efforts of other comics.

The funniest of his shows I've seen! This is George Carlin at his best ! The best part is the end when he's talking about the planet and the environment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Carlin At His Best, December 11, 2010

Don't take my word for it, the man himself named this as his favorite performance in his last autobiography entitled, "Last Words". One of the last great comedians of the 20th century, Carlin absolutely owns the stage in this top notch concert. If you love Carlin, or you want to introduce someone to his unique style of comedy, I recommend this DVD over any other. Farewell George, you will be sorely missed but never forgotten.
