As the first reviewer stated, Clason claims people find the right job based primarily upon physical appearance. Are you're fat? Then you should work with food. Are you skinny with a big head or do you have big protruding knots above your ears? Then clearly you should go into something intellectually challenging like physics. Big hands? Construction or mechanics would be right for you!

I wonder what physical features you would need in order to be a . . . oh, never mind!

So, was he joking?! Nope. He claims to have data supporting all this as he divides people into different classes and even hybrid classes. I must say that "The Richest Man in Babylon" is a most wonderful book that Clason also wrote. Well worth reading. I'd say even give a copy of "Richest Man" to a friend. Maybe that's really why I bought this title. But, don't be fooled. "Find Your Right Job" is the absolute opposite of "Richest Man" in worth and in wisdom. A joke indeed!

This book is very outdated. The Careers and salaries are very outdated. It uses techniques based on how you look to determine what type of job you should have. I was very dissappointed.

I purchased this book because I enjoyed Clason's "The Richest Man in Babylon" (a worthy read) and, admittedly, because I didn't read the other reviewer posts in this space! What a huge disappointment!

Clason's premise is that an individual's ideal job can be found by understanding which of 5 basic types of person they are. Allowing for combinations (e.g. AB, CDE, BCDE, etc...) there are 31 combinations that define us all. All of this is explained in the first 25 pages of the book. The problem is that the 31 types of people are strongly oriented toward physical characteristics and largely ignore mental and interpersonal skills/preferences and work environment preferences. For the definitive book in this area, I would strongly recommend "What Color is Your Parachute?".

The last 70 pages of Clason's book provide a listing of 80 profitable occupations that are so woefully outdated as to border on comical (e.g. railroad trainman is a featured occupation and aviation is "one of the newer occupations that will take a more important place in the future..."). Since I already spent my [...], I went through the exercise and discovered that I am (physically) suited to 25 of these 80 occupations as far ranging as banking, mining, surgeon, furniture storekeeper and railroad executive! Honestly, this book should be taken out of circulation.
