Nicely compliments Mothership Connection DVD!,
This review is from: George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic - Live at Montreux 2004 (DVD)
Stop! If you don't have the Mothership Connection DVD, I highly recommend buying it first. Perhaps I'm too old school but, in my opinion, the Mothership Connection DVD captures PFunk at their peak and the Live At Montreux DVD captures PFunk as they are now. That said, if you already have the Mothership Connection DVD, the Live At Montreux DVD compliments it nicely and both are must haves for your PFunk collection. Live At Montreux has outstanding performances and it captures everything that you expect to see/hear when you go to a PFunk concert nowadays. However, my favorite part of the Live At Montreux DVD are the bonus tracks. It is worth buying the Live At Montreux DVD if only for Bernie Worrell's synth solo and Michael Hampton's performance of Maggot Brain. Regardless, I must emphasize buying the Mothership Connection DVD first if you don't already have it. I just feel it is a superior concert.

This review is from: George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic - Live at Montreux 2004 (DVD)
This is the best George Clinton DVD concert to date. I also own the Mothership connection DVD and the Live at the House of Blues DVD, and this one tops them both. There was probably a little less emphasis on the guitarists than I'm used to, but the vocalists, arrangements, new musicians, intensity and the return of Bernie Worrel more than made up for that. As usual, the seamless flow of one mode into another was matchless. Without much fanfare, the entire personnel on stage could change in a moment. Even the MC got to get himself "some" on the P-Funk rendition of "A Whole Lotta Shakin'" which literally rocked. The female vocalist were fine and appropriately nasty, as were their predecessors, Lynn Mabry and Dawn Silva. The electric violin version of "Maggot Brain" will be talked about for years to come. The show is constantly changing as it remains the same as in "Look out here I come, right back where I started from."
