Must hear for fans of Chordal Guitar Playing,
By Hans Arp (Maine USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: George Van Eps/Eddie Miller/Stanley Wrightsman Trio (Audio CD)
Kay's Fantasy...
Tea For Two... I Wrote it for Jo... Once in Awhile... these 4 tracks are certainly 'must hear' for fans of chordal style guitar playing... In these early recordings George Van Eps is playing with a pick rather than with the fingerstyle method he used when making great recordings like "Mellow Guitar", "my Guitar", etcetera... On these sessions he gave the bass player a chord chart (so as to alert him to all the modulatons to come!) and away they went... Van Eps driving rhythm and exciting arranging sense make the 4 tracks mentioned above a mini post graduate course in guitar genius...the descending triplet fills in "Once in Awhile" are worth the price all on their own... please give a listen and enjoy!

Not as good as I expected, considering how much I like Eddie Miller and George Van Eps on other records.
