5.0 out of 5 stars Get one NOW!
I bought mine recently and LOVE it! I'm a single person who normally eats out of the microwave and get impatient when it takes more than 5 minutes for some dishes. But I do love to cook but ran out of time with my job nowadays and this does the perfect job of allowing me to cook quickly and clean up just as quickly. I'm very happy with mine! 3.0 out of 5 stars tastes Great- wear and tear adds up
First of all I'd like to say that I love these grills. They cook food like burgers, salmon, chicken and veggies quickly and easily. I have had 3 of them over the past few years and I am hesitant to purchase another one because of the wear and tear that shows on them after awhile. I would use mine at least once a week, sometimes up to 3 times. When it came to cleanup...

Of note, some people are bothered by the small size. It's just me so it's perfect and possibly perfect for 2 people. Get a bigger size if you cook for a lot of people.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cooks like a gourmet chef, cleans like a champ, February 13, 2001
I must admit, I was not a fan of the George Foreman Grill when it was introduced. The concept seemed ludicrous, like those old hot dog cookers that "electrocuted" the dogs to cook them. Or the SnackMaster, which claimed you could make fresh pies in minutes with two slices of bread and a can of filling (all you really got was a hot, gooey mess). I couldn't believe George's "wundergrill" would be any better. In fact, I figured it had to be worse.

I was so wrong.

The George Foreman Grill delivers everything it promises, and then some. It cooks foods fast, with relatively low mess, and the taste is wonderful. The heat sears the outside, creating those delicious, carmelized grill marks. But the cooking is so quick, the insides don't get dried out or tough. And greasier meats, like hamburger or sausage, really do drain off, just as George promises (the only negative comment I would make is about the design of the grease-trapping trays, which are not built-in, but separate pieces; if positioned wrong, you can drain grease onto the counter). I cook frozen salmon on mine--its out of this world, and better than what most restaurants serve.

The convenience of the grill is the big selling point for me. Small, easy-to-clean, and easily stored in a cabinet, it comes out only when I need it (though it is attractive enough to sit next to the toaster or coffee maker in larger kitchens). It really is portable; one of my co-workers brings his to the office to grill hot dogs for lunch.

The addition of the colored lids only increases the appeal of the George Foreman Grill. Now, color-coding with the rest of the kitchen is a snap. What was already a great product is now even better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Attention Singles!, September 3, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: George Foreman GR10ABWI Champ Grill with Bun Warmer, Indigo (Kitchen)
This little appliance is the greatest invention since the toaster! I received one for my 45th birthday. I was VERY skeptical. Oh gosh, "another appliance to stick in the cabinet." It sat on the counter and I stared at it for three weeks. Then I tried it. I now use it, at minimum, 4-5 times a week. It cooks any type of meat or poultry in 8-12 minutes; fish takes even less time. Chicken breasts, steaks, sliced pork loin, sausage patties, hamburgs, sliced veggies, salmon steaks -- you name it. Everything cooks to perfection. I don't understand the other reviewers who have said the meat is undercooked on the inside and black on the outside. Can't they read the timing chart in the Instruction Book? One tip: don't try to cook anything TOO thick: 1-2" works best. It's great with marinated meats and poultry. And try "rubs" as well. Barbeque sauce is okay, but a bit of a clean-up. However, cleaning this machine is a snap. Use a dry paper towel first, then a wet sponge (no soap!) -- keep the drip pan in place, then another paper towel. Takes about 3 mins. When you pre-heat it again for the next use, it's going to kill off any germs/bacteria that might remain. It gets easier to clean the more you use it. No, it doesn't make stuff taste like it came off a charcoal grill outside. But the meat has a great flavor, stays juicy, and no oven to bother with (not to mention pans). For a single person, this appliance is a must! I can cook a really healthy meal now in less than 15 mins.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great grill, not big enough for 4 burgers but great for 2, November 26, 2001

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: George Foreman GR10ABWI Champ Grill with Bun Warmer, Indigo (Kitchen)
This is an excellent grill. I have heated up burgers, hot dogs and also toasted grill cheese sandwiches.

This item is non stick. Only really holds 2 burgers of a good size, will not hold 4. No matter just takes an extra couple of minutes. Bun warmer is good, no fun eating a hot burger on an ice cold bun (teeth will chatter !). I like this grill, does not occupy to much space on kitchen counter, easy to clean and works!

In short this item would replace a sandwich maker AND acts as a griller. Excellent as a single buy (good price) to fit both tasks (sandwich maker and grill for heating burgers, hot dogs. (...)

5.0 out of 5 stars A must for any kitchen, March 23, 2001
By
Katerina Kuehler (Cortlandt Manor, NY USA) - See all my reviews
This little grill will fit a NY strip steak and make it medium rear in seven minutes (three minutes preheating and four minutes of actual grilling). Steaks come out perfect with no mess or smoke. If you want another steak, just wipe the surface with the paper towel. In four minutes you will have another juicy steak. You can also fit two small hamburgers, but the bun warmer will take only one bun, so you are better off with one jumbo hamburger. The only thing that is missing is a timer. I use Pyrex digital probe thermometer (also offered on Amazon) to monitor temperature inside the meet and I always get a perfect steak or hamburger. I stick the probe inside the steak and place readout on the table in front of me, hamburger is done when the temperature reaches 160F. For medium steak it is 180F. Of course, this is not the same as grilling on the open fire grill but for quick and tasty meal I can't find anything better. You can also grill fish, chicken, bacon, and vegetables with great results.

4.0 out of 5 stars Veggies Unite ala george!, December 5, 2001
This review is from: George Foreman GR10ABWI Champ Grill with Bun Warmer, Indigo (Kitchen)
I doubt this is what george foreman (well maybe his agent) intended for this gadgets but as 12 yr. vegetarian when my dad brought home 2 I went gaga (one in orange, one in blue.) of course the manual says nothing about cooking fake bacon, fake chik nuggets, grill cheese, etc. but if we're cooking and it'll fit it goes in. Somehow this thing has turned me into a, ahem, "quasi-chef"... I can't tell you how burgers cook on it, but if you want a veggie burger, yum!
there are (aren't there always) 2.5 slightly problematic features that i'm surprised haven't been fixed yet.....

the 'bun warmer' is tiny, i dont see how you could fit one in there, and the latch is poorly designed... hard to grip and breaks off easily. which leads to the second problem.

while your trying to close the latch or just the "grill" you're apt to clutch it like snapping it shut, with your thumb on the latch and your forefinger underneath. DON'T! you'll burn yourself. badly. (trust me on this). it'll probably happen more then once if you dont ignore the latch. the metal heats up too quickly on the exterior and really should be coated in something that disapates heat. and when you open the grill, if the latch isn't closed the plastic hood will fall back upon the table.

and lastly, it's quite hard to clean because nothing comes off. basically you've got to just wipe it down with a damp cloth.
Overall there's nothing i've seen for this price that comes close. try a veggie frank, a slice of fake bacon, maybe a portabello mushroom or two...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Taste - - lives up to the hype !, August 24, 2002
This review is from: George Foreman GR10ABWI Champ Grill with Bun Warmer, Indigo (Kitchen)
In terms of taste and convenience, I have to give this item
5 stars - - It cooks quickly and evenly and the food comes out immersed in flavor - - I happen to be a master at either over or undercooking almost anything I make... not a single thing I cooked came out burnt or raw in the middle. - - and get this - - we cooked a delicious chicken breast (with the bone) using nothing more than a bit of salt and pepper... and it came out just perfect... nice, juicy and flavorful - - and the whole meal took less than 5 minutes to cook - - and even less to clean up... ... the non-stick surface let's you wipe the schmaltz away in seconds, and before you know it you can store it away... Another amazing point is that its smoke free - - though I love the smell of roasted garlic and fried onions, it was nice for to be able to make them without smelling or smoking up the house.

Only two things you should be aware of - - first I happen to a professional Jazz organist, and the grill (especially the lid part) seemed like something that might be too easy to get burned on, especially when you're using that spatula it comes with(Grilled chicken yes - - grilled hand - - no no - - bad one's next gig or boxing match !) and the other thing is that it doesn't have an on/off switch. It heats up almost instantly when you plug it in... I'd hate to find out what would happen though if you forgot to take the plug out - - so you definitely need to remind yourself to pull the plug when you're finished ! - - For this reason I was tempted to give it only 4 stars... but then I remembered that delicious perfectly cooked chicken in only 5 minutes... and the fact that the grill actually cost around the same price as dinner for two at Bennigan's, yet hopefully will last for years to come... so I relented. - - This *is* a great product... (*note - - size is ideal for a bachelor pad, or couple without children... it holds about two patties - - so if you have a larger family go for a bigger size.)

5.0 out of 5 stars great grilling, February 2, 2001
By
p hornyak (West Mifflin, PA) - See all my reviews
I have had the small grill for sometime and at my husband's Christmas party this year I was lucky enough to be able to choose the larger grill with bun warmer. I thought at first since there are just the two of us that it would be too large, no so, I can grill kabobs without any problem and can grill several chicken breasts at one time to use in several different recipes. It is really terrific and the fact that the bread stays warm - an extra bonus - grrrreat product

I would have liked to have seen a size given in the ad, and also it did not specify that there was no temperature control! I would probably not have bought if I knew there was no control; however, it does well with hotdogs, veggie dogs, grilled veggies, fish, sandwiches - but you really have to watch the temp and even unplug at times to make the heat corrections.
