5.0 out of 5 stars DO YOU WANT A GRILL OR A SANDWICH MAKER?
The removable trays are not the way to go if you want grill marks, fast cooking and searing.

I just returned my George Foreman 360 Grill and replaced it with the 144 sq inch Family Size Grill. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! The steaks and vegetables came out perfect. It was fast, with grill marks and cooked in the time according to the chart included in the booklet...

3.0 out of 5 stars A good grill, but lacks a couple of important features
We bought this grill to replace our old GF grill that was about 10 years old. We use this several times a week, and I really miss the old grill.
This does cook meat really quickly, but it lacks a timer and a temperature option that our old GF grill did have. It will burn meat very quickly and puts out a lot of smoke b/c it cooks too fast. This is the only jumbo...

This does cook meat really quickly, but it lacks a timer and a temperature option that our old GF grill did have. It will burn meat very quickly and puts out a lot of smoke b/c it cooks too fast. This is the only jumbo size, so I guess it will have to do for now. If a timer and temp option were on here, it would make a big difference.

The removable trays are not the way to go if you want grill marks, fast cooking and searing.

I just returned my George Foreman 360 Grill and replaced it with the 144 sq inch Family Size Grill. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! The steaks and vegetables came out perfect. It was fast, with grill marks and cooked in the time according to the chart included in the booklet. The 360 just steamed everything and took twice as long to cook as what the directions claimed.

I believe the removable plates are not making a good enough contact to the heating element and that's why it can't get hot enough to cook the food as advertised. The top plate is loose and wobbly and not snug enough to the heating element. Also, you have two surfaces to heat instead of one (the removable plate, and the top of the unit that has the heating element).

I read all the reviews on the 360 and thought that it was definitely the way to go until I tried it. It might be great for grilled cheese and quesadillas, etc., but for a real grill-type grill, the removable plates ARE NOT THE WAY TO GO! NON-removable plates get the job done.

If you read the reviews, read the ones that have the information according to what you want to cook. If all you want are sandwiches, read those reviews. If you want it for grilling meat and vegetables, read those reviews.

I wish the Family Grill were take apart like the 360, but you can't have everything.

I found the best way to clean it, is to take wet paper towels and place it on the grill as soon as you're done cooking. When it cools enough to handle you can use the little spatula that came with it on the paper towel to loosen any cooked on food, then wipe off as much as you can. Another clean damp paper towel will finish the job.

A few years ago I purchased a different brand with removable grills and had the same problem. I finally gave it away.

Only negative thing to say is that it does not have the removable grilling plates. Other than that it is a great product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great grill!!, February 18, 2009

I got this grill about 3 years ago. I LOVE it!! We have a large family, so the size is ideal. I have grilled pork tenderloin, steak, burgers, chicken, and even a roast! I have many times put frozen prok chops on there and they cook evenly and are never dry, a little garlic salt, black pepper-delish!!! All food comes out just delicious! I am not normally a fan of hot dogs-but they are SO good when thay are cooked on the Grorge Foreman!

It is very easy to clean, so it's never been an issue that the plates are not removeable.

Like I said, we've had it for about 3 yrs now, and use it prob twice a week. I'm now noticing that the non-stick coating is starting to come off-scratched looking. I think that's pretty good for the use we got out of it. I'm now shopping all the newer GF grills, but I really think I'm leaning toward buying this same one again. This one seems to be the biggest.

2.0 out of 5 stars okay but would not recommend, May 24, 2009
This review is from: George Foreman GR1212 Jumbo-Size Electric Nonstick Contact Grill (Kitchen)
We where totally excited about this until we used it. It cooks meat okay however because so much of the juice drips off all meat we've cooked (pork tenderloin, burgers, chicken) have come out completely dried out. The other major disappointment is with how hard it is to clean. Because the cook plates do NOT come off you can only use a limited amount of water and soap so I never really feel like they are clean. Would not recommend this to anyone. Save the money and buy a different grilling system.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works great on steaks, January 27, 2009

I put off buying a George Foreman grill because in my area, the local stores are pretty high in price. My brother owns a smaller George Foreman grill and swears by its cooking times, flavor of food when it comes out. So finding a deal on one here i bought it. I have used it a few times so far. It heats up in 4 to 5 minutes. It will cook a fairly thick steak or angus beef patty in 7 to 8 minutes. The grease tray catches all the grease. The meat cooks clear through. Just spray alittle non stick spray on both plates, preheat, and its ready in no time .The grill is easy to clean even though the plates can not be removed. A dish cloth and hot water is all thats needed. I am very happy with this grill.

2.0 out of 5 stars Incorrect Description, December 26, 2008

Despite what it says here, the plates are NOT removable and cannot be placed in the dishwasher. That was very disappointing.
