Product Description

Amazon.com Review

Former heavyweight boxing champ George Foreman loves his meat but not the fat, so he devised a series of fat-reducing electric indoor grilling machines. This family-size grill provides more than fifty square inches of cooking surface for burgers, steaks, chicken breasts, fish fillets, or veggies. Sloping channels allow grease to run off into the drip tray during cooking, keeping meats lean. Nonstick, easy-to-clean plates on the heavy lid and base don’t require greasing and sear meats to seal in juices. Both sides of the food are cooked at once, so no flipping is required and cooking time is cut in half. A floating hinge allows the lid to fit evenly over thick foods, and the top of the lid flips up to expose a metal bun warming surface. The drip tray and a plastic spatula are included. --Ann Bieri

4.0 out of 5 stars I was leery but now I'm happy!, July 8, 2003

I sat down & read everyones reviews, seems like people either hate this or love it. So, for the price I figured I have to try. I was leery over the small cooking space (I cook for 3). The food cooked SO fast, that it wasn't a problem for me to do two rounds of cooking. I mean SUPER FAST. A thin burger cooked in a minute. A fat one cooked in 4. As for someone complaining you can't melt your cheese? Open the lid for the last 1/2 a minute, throw the cheese on. Voila. Melted. As far as following the recommended food times, I don't know. I always have cooked my food without timing it, but I'm sure if you used it a few times you could get the hang of how long it takes for whatever particular item you are cooking. I found it easy to pop it open (there is a front handle to do this, I wasn't any more at risk of burning myself than with any other indoor grill) to check on the food. And the FAT you take out of the food! You'll be wowed. I've never gotten that much fat out with my regular table top indoor grill. It was also WAY easier to clean compared to my regular grill, in which I have to clean a tray from under the grill top.
Cleanup was a breeze because I followed the advice of a fellow reviewer. After unplugging the unit, I placed wet paper towels in it while I ate. It wiped out beautifully.
The bun warmer is a little lame. It sure does warm buns if your into that sort of thing though. I rated this a four star because it is excellent, however it doesn't offer a variable heat control. That would have been nice. I did find the unit to have consistent temperature though, which is good enough.

5.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly good!, July 25, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: George Foreman GR20BWWHT Family Size Grill with Bun Warmer (Kitchen)
We are amazed at how quickly this grill turns out tasty meat and vegetables (we've even grilled cabbage on it, of all things). I bought it due to the sale price, thinking that it would probably be one of those things you use only a couple of times. Instead, it is staying out on the counter. If you are on a low-carb diet, this will really help you. You can cook something good for you and be sitting down to eat much faster than a trip to fast food place or pizza order would have arrived. Highly recommended, glad we got this one!
