4.0 out of 5 stars I was leery but now I'm happy!
I sat down & read everyones reviews, seems like people either hate this or love it. So, for the price I figured I have to try. I was leery over the small cooking space (I cook for 3). The food cooked SO fast, that it wasn't a problem for me to do two rounds of cooking. I mean SUPER FAST. A thin burger cooked in a minute. A fat one cooked in 4. As for someone complaining...

1.0 out of 5 stars it broke already!
I bought this in September 2003, and loved using it. Unfortunately, it no longer works; it quit in the middle of cooking lunch! I have heard that it is made by Salton, the makers of my sandwich maker that did the same thing.

As for someone complaining you can't melt your cheese? Open the lid for the last 1/2 a minute, throw the cheese on. Voila. Melted. As far as following the recommended food times, I don't know. I always have cooked my food without timing it, but I'm sure if you used it a few times you could get the hang of how long it takes for whatever particular item you are cooking. I found it easy to pop it open (there is a front handle to do this, I wasn't any more at risk of burning myself than with any other indoor grill) to check on the food. And the FAT you take out of the food! You'll be wowed. I've never gotten that much fat out with my regular table top indoor grill. It was also WAY easier to clean compared to my regular grill, in which I have to clean a tray from under the grill top.
Cleanup was a breeze because I followed the advice of a fellow reviewer. After unplugging the unit, I placed wet paper towels in it while I ate. It wiped out beautifully.
The bun warmer is a little lame. It sure does warm buns if your into that sort of thing though. I rated this a four star because it is excellent, however it doesn't offer a variable heat control. That would have been nice. I did find the unit to have consistent temperature though, which is good enough.

5.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly good!, July 25, 2003
By A Customer

We are amazed at how quickly this grill turns out tasty meat and vegetables (we've even grilled cabbage on it, of all things). I bought it due to the sale price, thinking that it would probably be one of those things you use only a couple of times. Instead, it is staying out on the counter. If you are on a low-carb diet, this will really help you. You can cook something good for you and be sitting down to eat much faster than a trip to fast food place or pizza order would have arrived. Highly recommended, glad we got this one!

5.0 out of 5 stars So easy, August 6, 2003

I am a complete grilling novice. I have never been able to use an actual grill to any sort of sucess, my food would either be charred or raw. I got this grill hoping to change that and it is AMAZING. Big enough to cook two medium size steaks, I slapped them on, let them cook for 9 minutes and they came out perfectly, no flipping and no worrying about temerature control.

Despite reviews I was anticipating a rough clean up, and looking at the thing when my steaks came off made me think it would be even worse... But I was proved wrong. The included spatula made it SO easy to clean. Bits that looked hard and caked on came off in a second. Grease trap was easy too, and when I was done I just stored everything in the bun warmer untill next time. Fits great in my small apartment, but is big enough to cook a meal for two. I can't wait to try more stuff on it. Highly recommended

5.0 out of 5 stars fast and no mess grill, July 24, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: George Foreman GR20BWWHT Family Size Grill with Bun Warmer (Kitchen)
I love this grill. It grills steak within 5 min, chicken in 2 min, and clean up only takes 2 min. It leaves my kitchen nice and clean, no mess at all. I dread the outside BBQ because of the insects flying around the food, the taking too long to cook, and the grill-mess to clean up. Now, I am eating the exact BBQ food within minutes in the comfort of my home without bug.
I like it so much that I bought 5 more grills in exact model to gift to my brothers and friends.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Overall, July 19, 2003

I purchased this because we will be having a teenager in our house for the summer and wanted to be able to prepare dinners quickly. The first time I used it was for chicken breast. I didn't have time to marinade it, but it was pretty good unseasoned on top of a Caesar salad. The second time I used it for some pretty plump garlic seasoned sausages. This is probably the best way to cook sausages and they turned out really wonderful. I cut them in diagonals and put them on top of our chicken filled tortellinis. My husband who is use to these sausages done in a frying pan said they could have been juicier, but I preferred them this way ,and there was about two tablespoons of fat in the tray which we didn't exactly need. Sometime this week, I'll try making a grilled ham and cheese sandwich and probably some chicken satay on skewers.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's 5 years old and it has kept on trucking, June 27, 2008

It's a George Foreman grill...it works just like the millions of others that are out there. We've had it for 5 years and it works just like it did 5 years ago. We've never used the bun warmer but the grill and "drip pan," work fine. I do, however, think that there should be a better less gross method of collecting the fat/grease/whatever it's called.

4.0 out of 5 stars Definitely worth the counter space, January 20, 2004

I was interested by this product, with all the ads how could a person not be aware of it, but I wasn't sure it would realy be worth the cost and more imporatantly the space to use and store it. Our family was given one for as a gift and now I wish I had gotten one sooner!

Cooking time is fast, the fat really does drain off, the food tastes great and clean up is easy. My non-cooking daughter will even use this product (and doesn't burn down the house either!)

My only complaints with the product are that there is no on/off switch or temperature control. Once it is plugged in it's on and stays on until it's unplugged.

I will be buying a second smaller grill to send off to college with the cooking-challenged daughter.
