5.0 out of 5 stars Great gift -- for yourself, or someone else
I received this combo as a Christmas gift, and I guess I was skeptical. But after using both parts of the combo several times, I'm sold.

3.0 out of 5 stars cleaning is a hassle
The price : No complaint, especially the price I paid for last Christmas (2004), 30% less than normal selling price.
The Grill : BBQ is easy and the cooking is faster, so much faster than a charcoal grill.
The Rotisserie : crispy and tasty. My husband loves to make rotisserie or roast pork, and believe it or not, it is excellent.
The cleaning : We...

I received this combo as a Christmas gift, and I guess I was skeptical. But after using both parts of the combo several times, I'm sold.

I've always enjoyed the George Foreman grills. When it's too cold out to use a proper BBQ, or you just don't want to take the time, a GF grill is just the ticket. Easy to use, easy to clean, and with its long-lasting non-stick surface, you'll be enjoying it for a long time to come. The jumbo model included with this combo is big enough for the whole family, or allows you to make extra ahead for lunch the next day.

But the real gem is the rotisserie, and is where I was most surprised. If you enjoy whole roast chicken from one of the restaurant chains or your local grocery, you'll be pleasantly surprised when you're able to make it at home -- with the added benefit of controlling everything that goes into it. Simple recipes accompany the appliance, and the results are just delicious.

The rotisserie comes with skewers for ka-bobs, or a basket for smaller foods like chicken legs or a small roast.

Definitely one of my favorite gifts this past season, it gets a big thumb's up.

The cleaning : We both hate it. The cleaning is really a hassle, it is so difficult and it takes so much time, especially the rotisserie. We only used the rotisserie three times since we bought it because none of us wants to do the clean up.

3.0 out of 5 stars Happy/Unhappy, August 10, 2005
This review is from: George Foreman GR36-59A Grill and Rotisserie Combo (Kitchen)
I give this 3 stars since I have to rate both items together.
First - the grill is wonderful - perfect for 2 people and guest. We use it for our RV. The grill gets 5 Stars.
The rotisserie is not as good. I give it 1 Star. First, it's hard to clean after greese and sauces spaters on it. Second, it doesn't hold a whole chicken of average size - maybe a cornish hen. I bought it for my RV so I could have rotisserie chicken like I do at home.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is an AWESOME deal!, January 2, 2004

If you're planning on buying George Foreman GR36CB Jumbo Size Plus Grill or this George Foreman GR59A Baby George Rotisserie, I'd strongly recommend you consider this AWESOME deal. Both items for less than $90! I saw this very same deal in a discount chain ad...they offered it for $99.99. They had 1 or 2 per store and offered NO RAINCHECKS! Don't let this offer slip by you because there's no product picture. I'm glad I didn't.....ENJOYING MY GEORGE FOREMAN GRILL AND ROTISSERIE!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad for the price but not great either..., January 25, 2005
This review is from: George Foreman GR36-59A Grill and Rotisserie Combo (Kitchen)
The problem with the Rotisserie is that it's a colossal pain to clean up all the splattered grease afterwards, despite the usual BS marketing claim of being "easy to clean." Also this Rotisserie just plugs into a usual 110v outlet, which means it's pretty underpowered. Particularly for cooking big things like whole chickens, the cooking times in the included cookbook are quite optimistic, I'd add at least 50% to them unless you like your meat pink and bloody.

Most grocery stores where I live sell a whole slow-roasted chicken made on their professional rotesserie for five to six dollars; why would anyone want to bother with making this at home? There is really very little savings, and a lot more headache: cleaning up the thing, dishes, buying the chicken and preparing it, etc.

My sister kept hers only because she's allergic to the spices that the grocery delis use in their chicken.

As for the grill, check out my review of the older "Champ" grill. Sure they've improved the design a little with a few extra features but it's basically the same thing, with the pros and cons that I described.

Conclusion: take all the wild advertising claims with many many grains of salt. No, neither one is "easy to clean" nor can they equal the delicious browned and crunchy quality you get with an oven or a barbecue pit. All those mouth-watering photos on the box and cookbook? Darling, all these companies whether it's GF or McDonalds, PAY "food engineers" to come and make food look that good for the cameras!!!

These are not horrible products, just keep your expectations low and you'll be OK.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a pleasant surprise!, December 9, 2005
This review is from: George Foreman GR36-59A Grill and Rotisserie Combo (Kitchen)
I received this as a gift. I never dreamed I would love it as I do. Just load it and set the timer. When the time is up you will have perfect results every time, crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. The trick to cleaning is to line the drip tray with foil and soak the skewer parts in warm water for a few minutes and they will clean easily. I will be buying one this year to give as a gift.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it!, November 8, 2005
This review is from: George Foreman GR36-59A Grill and Rotisserie Combo (Kitchen)
I purchased this on super sale at a local store and have used both pieces and have been very satisfied. The rotisserie cooked a five lb chicken in 1 1/2 hours as promised. I took the chicken out and had a knife in hand to serve the chicken, however I grabbed the leg and it just fell off. The whole family loved it. I did not find the clean-up to be that dreadful; simply take out the parts and throw them in a sink of soapy water. Wipe them clean 10 minutes later.

The grill has also worked well as promised. All in all, I was amazed at what I got for the money. Thanks George Foreman!

3.0 out of 5 stars Foreman grill grease trap, September 9, 2009
This review is from: George Foreman GR36-59A Grill and Rotisserie Combo (Kitchen)
The Foreman rotisserie grill does an acceptable job of preparing a tasty grilled chicken...BUT there are 3 distinct drawbacks:
1. The grill is very difficult to clean...the grease eventually leaks out the bottom onto your countertop...yuck

2. The grill only accepts birds less than 3.5 lbs....with todays mass produced birds, try finding a bird smaller than 4lbs.

3. The grill takes much too long to toast a bagel, bread etc...maybe it takes longer to heat the whole oven?

You can't beat this deal if you could! The baby rotisserie alone goes for $60 and the Jumbo grill goes for $75 alone. I have the mini George Foreman grill and I live by it. I can't wait until I use the rotisserie.

Don't pass this up just because you can't see a picture. You can look them up separately to see the picts. and get the info. You'll also get sticker shock at the same time. This is a STEAL!!!

I just received my grill & rotisserie today so I haven't used them yet. I had a smaller Foreman grill and this one is about double the size! The rotisserie looks great too. I'm sure I'll love the rotisserie as much as I will the grill. Since I had the smaller grill I can speak from experience about how great they are! Makes fixing dinner a whole lot easier since my husband was put on a low-fat diet by his doctor.
