As you can see from the numerous customer reviews, the latest G5 grill is really outstanding. My wife and love to grill salmon, pork chops, burgers, and more. The grill does a great job of removing the fat, but it's not so great at crisping things.

At the time of my posting this review, Amazon had a special offer on the GRP90WGP model, and I'm sure some readers are wondering what's the difference between that one and the GRP90WGR. Both grills are identical, same grills, same inserts. The only difference is the color. The Amazon site suggests that they are different size and weights, but this is not true. The WGP model is platinum colored, and the WGR is red (hence the P and R). So unless you're trying to color coordinate your kitchen, you might want to consider getting the cheaper model.

We bought the G5 unit mainly as a nice _big_ waffle maker with removable and
washable plates (we have a propane grill, so grilling isn't important).

The problem is that it does not cook waffles evenly. If you fill the grids, the
centers start to burn while the edges are still raw. If you don't fill the grids
(i.e. limit the batter to what's directly over the heating element) it works
OK but you end up with evenly done, but half-size, irregular-edged waffles.

If you are buying this as a grill, ignore our issues; they probably don't
matter unless you need big waffles.

We returned the unit

My husband wanted a panini maker for christmas, but I saw this grill and thought it would be a better deal...and it sure was. The price was great, the cookbook is very helpful, and we've used the grill many times already to make different meats, panini sandwiches, and waffles. The clean-up is hassle-free with the removable plates.

This product is a great improvement over the old George Foreman models. It's much easier to clean. The directions and cooking times in the book aren't the best, but you'll figure out how long to cook things as you use it more. Beware of the add on omelet pan. When I followed the recipe in the book it spilled over everywhere.

This is a wonderful product, I was especially impressed with its ability to grill fish to perfection, which some of the other models do not possess. It also helps that the cooking times for indivual items are listed in the manual

Really much nicer than the original first model (which we returned). Was a little nervous that this one might not measure up but we were pleasantly surprised. Makes huge waffles for my kids every morning. No more having to deep fry and with that unhealthy grease, chicken tenders and nuggets and now done in the grill. They prefer it that way. Quick skillet for hot sandwiches for lunch and steaks for dinner. Very easy clean up. Muffins didn't bake up quite the way the book said, they looked more like cookies than muffins, but hey they still tasted good. We never put this away, it stays on the counter. Still a good deal for the money.

I love my grill, and have used it several times since its arrival 4 days ago. I started simple with burgers and chicken breasts, but then moved onto the baking plate where an individual single serving frozen pizza came out perfectly!

Word of caution...when the grill arrives be careful taking it out of its packaging. I dropped the waffle plate because it slipped put of it's plastic wrap. I now have two fractured toes!

This is my first George Foreman grill, but I really like it a lot. It's not as complicated and sophisticated as I expected (single knob for temperature control), but it works really well. I use it every single day to grill flank steaks, salmon, chicken, shrimp, veggies, you name it. Everything comes out perfect, I don't think it's possible to actually burn something with this grill. In addition, the fat-draining design is brilliant. Every week I remove a gross layer of fat from the fat tray. I'm glad it drains into the tray and doesn't make it into my veins.

Highly recommend it.

The removable plates are awesome. It makes cleanup so much easier.

Even though it is versatile with the 5 different plates and the adjustable tilng mechanism, it is not a replacement for a toaster over. Taller/thicker items will not fit in the baking pan without contacting the top plate, which may or may not be ok. It's fine for thick sandwiches, not so good for pizza.

We had a Hamilton Beach grill and the coating on the plates started to wear off and we needed to replace it so we decided to get the gearge foreman and we LOVE IT! Everything cooks evenly and fast! I would recommend anyone buying this! A must have in your home!
