I fell in love with my mom's G5, and then had a heck of a time finding them available. To compound the problem, the Amazon price seemed to keep rising, slowly and steadily. I'm one of those shoppers who finds exactly what I want and then hunt it down over weeks or months to find the best price, and the G5 was just eluding my hunting prowess. Until...

The George Foreman line introduced the new Evolve, complete with a whole slew of available plates. And lo and behold, they are the same plates as the previous incarnations, back to the G4. The later grills have bigger hinges, but all the plates that came on the G5 fit comfortably into the G4. The new deep-dish plate does NOT fit into the G4 (I am not sure about the G5).

However, I found the G4 for $52, and the baking plate for $20, bringing my total to $72 -- A $28 savings over buying the G5 outright. Same grill, better price!

I had an older George Foreman grill that I really liked, but the non-stick surface was really coming off. So, I decided to get this one to replace it. Not only does it NOT get as hot (even on the hottest setting) ---- it stinks! Yes, it stinks! The handle is made of rubber, and it smells like old tires. It stinks up the whole kitchen and surrounding area. We have to store it out in the garage or laundry room. So, it is inconvenient to use it. And, I hate to get it out and stink up my kitchen again! I am pretty disappointed in this product. I would like to return it, but don't know if I can because I think I threw the box, etc. out already. Do yourself a favor and purchase a different grill!

I'm on my second one of these. The first one was defective because the hinge fell off right away. But, I love the second one. Cooking chicken is so fast and easy! Cleanup is a bit of a pain, though.

Great grill. The removable plates are wonderful. My only wish is that the lid locked like other models of the same size to make storage easier.

Had a GR20B, which I liked, but after about 7 months the Teflon was coming off, so I tossed it and vowed I'd be gentler with the Teflon on a new one. I got the GRP94WR about 3 months ago, as much for the waffle plates as for the grilling plates. First disappointment was when I opened the box: it stank, like heavy machine oil. I washed the plates well in hot soapy water, and washed the body with a soap water and a dish rag. It seemed to smell OK, so the next day I tried to use it. As soon as it got hot, it stank again, so I turned it off and put my meat back in the fridge. Next day, I washed it thoroughly in hot soapy water again, and washed the body as well as I could with a soapy dish rag, dried it, and let it air for 2 days. Next time I tried to use it, the same smell was still there, but much lessened, so I cooked my steaks on high, according to the directions. When I washed the plates, I hit my second disappointment: the bottom plate the Teflon was kind of bubbly looking in places, and there was a kind of whitish residue in places on the upper plate. I decided that maybe I hadn't washed it well enough, and let it go. I used it again last night. When I washed the plates, the top plate was bubbly-looking over a good 2/3 of the surface, and the teflon was flaking off in spots, and the whitish residue is still there on the upper plate. At this point, the grilling plates are not usable, and I'm not sure I want to even try using the waffle plates. I think I will not buy another GF grill - the quality is just not there.

I purchased this as a gift for family only to find out it was a complete disappointment. The plates don't fit against the shape of the heating elements so the thing doesn't get hot enough to cook even on the highest setting it is only barely usable. It's simply a bad design, look else where.

I bought this grill as an upgrade from the tiny foreman grill. I tried making a panini in the grill today and the top didn't close down like an actual panning press would. Grilling is good like with all foreman grills and I like the detachable plates but the lid doesn't close all the way on anything big. Haven't used waffle plate yet but it doesn't appear to be belgium waffles just small squares for regular size waffles. What's the point when you can buy those frozen, I wanted big fluffy waffles but for the price it's good for grilling.

First grill received did not heat. Had to re-pack and pay almost $12 to return it to sender, and postage was not reimbursed. Then had to wait over 3 wks until item came in from back-order. Now somewhat concerned that the grill gives off an offensive odor when heating. Not sure I will dare use this inside instead of my gas grill on my deck during bad weather, which was my intention. Almost have to heat this up outside due to the offensive odor given off during cooking. Still undecided after first couple uses.

I would recommend. Can't give it 5 stars though because the teflon (or whatever the non-stick surface is called), did chip slightly. Must be careful to either use only the G Foreman sponges made for his grills or a soft side sponge. Even though I have a 2-sided sponge specifically for teflon frying pans it seems the more abrasive side may cause the nonstick surface to chip. It hasn't gotten worse since I have been using the soft sponge.

My other issue is the top grill plate is harder to clean, should have made it exactly like the bottom one which is a snap. The top plate has more hash marks to give the meat that "grilled" look.

BUT - I loved how it cooked scallops, salmon, and boneless, skinless chicken breast (haven't tried steak yet), all very moist. I would buy again or another G Foreman similar grill.

This grill does an excellent and even job of cooking all things. The removable grates clean up easily. Hard to believe the amount of water and fats that goes into the drip pan.
