A great facet of Gershwin music, and a great set of some songs that are difficult to find on Gershwin collections (Liza, Stairway to Paradise). This set is very different from other classical, jazz, and Broadway style Gershwin collections. The recordings are from the movies they were used in and are sort-of one-dimensional since they were performed by actors to advance the plot, as compared to a Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, or even a Frank Sinatra interpretation that is performed for the song's sake alone. However, these movie songs were a vital part of Gershwin versatility, and are a pleasure to listen to. In all, a great value and must for a Gershwin fan.

If you are an old movie fan you will love this cd.You can almost see Fred and Ginger dancing. Just great!!!!

I really enjoy this cd as it contains numerous songs from movies I have watched over the years. Listening to the CD I can visualize the scene in whatever movie the song came from. While these songs are not the standard banners for Gershwin, they are Gershwin and a must have for any fan.
