Any one who loves George Jones should not miss this CD. It is good from first song to last. Every song is good. Some songs were new to me but after hearing them I loved them. For a George Jones fan, you need it in your collection. Be sure and get it from Amazon like I did. Goooood prices.

A Great Early Collection,
By Jess "Jess" (Coal Country, PA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: George Jones - Greatest Country Hits (Audio CD)
This is the most affordable collection of early ORIGINAL George Jones recordings out there. This Curb Records collection consists of 11 hits, including some that other Compilers have somehow overlooked, including : "Where Does A Little Tear Come From", "Big Fool Of the Year", and "Not What I Had In Mind". The sound is clear and crisp, however, as with most of these Curb releases, the liner notes (or lack thereof) leave a lot to be desired. Still, for less than $8 it doesn't really warrant a complaint. If you like real honky-tonk music that only George Jones can deliver, then get this one. A+

George Jones Greatest Country Hits - Curb Records,

This review is from: George Jones - Greatest Country Hits (Audio CD)
A must have for any Jones fan. I try to get good collections for most of my favorite artists; this CD is a treasure due to its high quality recordings of George's earlier hits. There is a marked difference between these original releases and later more polished versions. This CD better represents the "World's Best Honky Tonk Singer" much better than the releases made after he made the "Big Time" and the success that he handled so poorly that it almost killed him. Would have been 5 stars if it had a few more songs on it.Combine this CD with George Jones - 24 Greatest Hits (TeeVee Records - The Musicor years 1965 to 1971) and you will have just about all the George Jones required to show what a great singer he really was. I have most of his later releases through the 90's but these songs are the ones that define George Jones and get listened to most often.
