5.0 out of 5 stars "Twenty Five" is the Real Deal
Note: This review is based on the UK release of "Twenty Five."

"Twenty Five" is George Michael's 'Best of' music video collection to accompany the album of the same name. Simply put, it's fantastic. George Michael has created some of the best pop music out there in his 25 years in the business and his videos are every bit as good. Ever emotionally engrossing...

3.0 out of 5 stars Repeated material
As the other customer clarify it, most of the material in this dvd was previously issued on the DVD Ladies & Gentlemen compilation, so there not much new here. I think it is time for the George and his record company to put out a entire live concert dvd, with all his songs. For an artist that has retired several times from the bussiness it is strange that such a concert...

5.0 out of 5 stars "Twenty Five" is the Real Deal, January 14, 2007
This review is from: George Michael: Twenty Five (DVD)
Note: This review is based on the UK release of "Twenty Five."

"Twenty Five" is George Michael's 'Best of' music video collection to accompany the album of the same name. Simply put, it's fantastic. George Michael has created some of the best pop music out there in his 25 years in the business and his videos are every bit as good. Ever emotionally engrossing and visually stimulating, few of these videos aren't worth watching again and again.

Everything you would expect to be here is, and some things you wouldn't expect are pleasant surprises.

Disc 1:

Club Tropicana (WHAM!)

Wake Me Up Before You Go Go (WHAM!)

Freedom (WHAM!)

Last Christmas (WHAM!)

Everything She Wants (WHAM!)

I'm Your Man (WHAM!)

The Edge of Heaven (WHAM!)

Careless Whisper (on a WHAM! album, but it was his first solo gig)

A Different Corner

I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me)

I Want Your Sex

Faith

Father Figure

One More Try

Monkey

Kissing a Fool

Freedom '90

Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me (Live With Elton John)

Too Funky

Disc 2:

Fastlove

Jesus to a Child

Spin the Wheel

Older

Outside

As (with Mary J. Blidge)

Freeek!

Amazing

John and Elvis are Dead

Flawless (Go to the City)

Shoot the Dog

Roxanne

An Easier Affair

If I Told You That (with Whitney Houston)

Waltz Away Dreaming (Toby Bourke)

Somebody to Love (live with Queen)

I Can't Make You Love Me (live)

Star People (live)

You Have Been Loved (live)

Papa Was a Rollin' Stone

Round Here

I don't consider it a big deal, but one of the more controversial videos is the "toned down" version. In 2002, George wrote a song called "Shoot the Dog" about UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, US President Bush and unrest in the Middle East. Most of the video remains intact, but references to drug use and the "puppet in bed" gag have been removed. Not a huge deal but worth noting.

Conclusion: I cannot endorse this set enough. These videos are visually distinctive masterpieces of the medium. If you enjoy music, videos or music videos, I would encourage you to check this set out.

5.0 out of 5 stars "George, I want your ..., your too funky", March 7, 2007
This review is from: George Michael: Twenty Five (DVD)
This is the perfect dvd for every woman who has/had a total crush on George Michael. If you remember those days "leather jacket, stone washed Jeans, singlet/shirt or tee, boots, the stubble, the blonde, short back and sides, those dark glasses, the way he shook his booty, his dreamy intense eyes staring back at you from the t.v set". Twenty five includes songs from wham and songs spanning his 25 years as an artist, I am totally hooked on this definative two disc collection, Michaels' versatility and vocal range in Pop, Rock, Soul, R & B, Dance, Jazz. It is all here, George Michael is an amazing performer to watch, you are drawn in, he has great on screen chemistry in the duets and in his solo efforts, the camera loves him. Put your feet up and enjoy a solid three and a half hours of pure entertainment, the quality is perfect. These Dvds include offensive language and Sexual references.

5.0 out of 5 stars True Talent always survives, May 7, 2008

Cos1 "Cos1" (Northern VA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: George Michael: Twenty Five (DVD)
I'm in the US and very happy this DVD was available to purchase without going through the hassle of trying to find all of these songs/videos in one place. The U.S. deserted George Michael. Because of the LA incident and lawsuit with Sony, the US is not seeing his talent the way the rest of the world is. MTV and VH1 don't play his videos although they are made extremely well and probably would be requested. His 96 Unplugged is one of the best yet is very rarely seen on VH1. Can't understand why Sony/Epic aren't pushing his concert or music at all.

He has a great following on Youtube and his talent really shows through there thanks to his fans. He's not even included in the 80's show they are now showing. Justin Timberlake and Michael Buble have definitely been influenced by GM but have a long way to go to even grace his presence. He has one of the best voices out there and is a true showman. There are 3 unplugged songs on this DVD. I wish there were more. I would have loved to have seen the Unplugged Freedom version, but will take what I can get. His live performances are uncomparable to others because of his most gifted voice. The man can sing anything and at 44 still has a powerful voice. I hope he keeps putting out more of his videos and music in America. He still has alot of hard core fans here. I think that will be known when he starts doing his concerts. If you like POP heavy on the R&B influence, George is your man. Put the cd/dvd in the car radio, turn it up and just drive. You'll be singing along in traffic before you know it.

I got it, I love it, I'd die if I didn't have it. Yeah, there are some videos that are on other compilations, but it wouldn't be cool to be without the new videos from the 25 album.

Good overview of George Michael's songs with videos from Wham till most recent. It consists of two DVDs where the first is mostly of his days in Wham. The audio on the first DVD has a couple of the songs that are not top notch but this is mostly older stuff. The second DVD is more recent and audio is very good. I wish this was in High Definition video then it would be great............

Since most of the material was previously issued on DVD on the Ladies & Gentlemen compilation they had the chance with this one to not only include the newer videos but also the Wham! material that was missing before. However, Young Guns & Bad Boys are STILL not here. George may find them embarassing but the hardcore fans want them so this is the second time a George Michael compilation DVD has been released - and screwed up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Everything You Want, It's Everything You Need, September 29, 2010
This review is from: George Michael: Twenty Five (DVD)
I became a George Michael fan around February of 2009, shortly after I discovered 80's music. Being a child of the '90's, I was surprised to hear songs from George Michael that I remembered when I was 5-6 years old that I couldn't identify then. "FastLove" was one of my favorites and still is today. I bought this DVD last year, and I love that I have virtually every video of his at my fingertips. Some people are disappointed that there isn't a lot of WHAM! videos on here, but WHAM! is a different chapter in his life. This DVD focuses on his solo career. I mean, it's not like every time Phil Collins releases a compilation CD/DVD that we expect Genesis music to be on it. No. I am proud to have purchased this product, and I suggest other George Michael fans do the same.
