Great book for research and reference. Anyone interested in why we need restoration and preservation of our great buildings, should read this.
The architect's grandson (Edward Everett Post) was my neighbor for years so I know that the author did her research. I highly recommend this book to anyone with a fascination of great architecture (NOT Bauhaus Boring), a desire to learn about the creative process of design or even if you just want to find information on some of the great buildings we have already lost. I'm glad that George's NY Stock Exchange hasn't met with the wrecking ball.(although I don't think that today's Wall-Streeters deserve such a beautiful building). |
