I bought this to read to my 5 and 7 year old's at bedtime. We live near Mt. Vernon and I thought this book would be neat in order for them to learn more about George Washington. They like it and I am enjoying it as well! Even at their young ages they understand most of it and I've learned much more about him. I highly recommend this book and these authors (I have also read the George Mueller book--great).

Our family has at least 4 other books from this series! Appropriate for kids of all ages. They're very informative & engaging at the same time.

We use them (for home schooling)as re-alouds with our young children (ages 5-7)who can't yet read them independently. I can hardly wait to read to them, myself! I'm learning new things about these inspiring men and women!

I also recommend the biographies of Abraham Lincoln, Hudson Taylor, Eric Liddell, & Gladys Aylward. Happy Reading!!

This book (and most others in the Heroes of History series)is chock full of good information and reads easily in a child-friendly format. There are some "dry" areas, but history can be rather dry at times. My greatest concern is the improper grammar that is scattered liberally throughout every book in the series that I have read. I would prefer to give this book 3 1/2 stars.
