"For anyone who loves history, this is 83 minutes worth watching!"

Product Description

The Ohio Country, 1755. General Edward Braddock’s British army has been annihilated, and the forest runs red with blood. The French & Indian War has begun. Now French-led raiding parties use terror to roll English settlements in the British colonies of Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Maryland back toward the Atlantic Coast. In this dark time Virginia turns to its most experienced young leader, George Washington. For three years Washington matches wits with "the most skillful of enemies." Finally the British government launches new campaigns against the French in America, and George Washington will face his greatest challenges of all.

5.0 out of 5 stars BEST FRENCH AND INDIAN WAR SAGA SINCE LAST OF THE MOHICANS, July 19, 2003

This review is from: George Washington's First War: The Battles for Fort Duquesne [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Robert Matzen has out done himself. I thought he coulden't possibly make a better French and Indian War Documentary than The Forest Ran Red With Blood (2001). But I was WRONG. His Sequel THE BATTLES FOR FORT DUQUESNE is EVEN BETTER. I have not enjoyed such a powerful and accurate historical cinematic event since The Last of The Mohicans. However, here is the story of how Young Colonel George Washington Snatch victory out of the clutches of defeat. This film is a must for anyone who wants to understand how Washington got his "Baptism of Fire" and the events that contributed to his greatness as as a leader of our nation. It is also on these battlefields that the seeds of conflict between the Britain and the Colonies were planted. I cannot give this movie a higher rating than 5 stars or I would! Robert Matzen is a great producer. He has assembled a team of historians, actors, writers and narrators that make this film exciting, thought provoking, educational and thoroughly enjoyable. It will certainly rank up there among the classic history films. I enjoyed it so much that I invited colleagues and to come and see it so that I could see again it several more times.
