Break open the beers, crank up this CD, and enjoy!,

Any lover of the Texas scene (Kelly Willis, the Robisons, REK) most likely already has this CD. The rest of you (i.e., everyone else with a pulse) needs Pat Green, and "George's Bar" serves as a good initiation to greatness. Upon first listening, you will want to hop into your car, cranking this disk, and cruise down the highway until the last song (only to play it again and drive more -- stopping for beers every now and then). Those of you who enjoy Country Radio will love Green's duet with Natalie Maines. Those of you bored with Country Radio should get this CD -- Country has not entirely gone commercial. And the rest of you who just love good music need to take a listen.

I saw Pat Green do a few songs a few years ago at Jerry Jeff's B'day in Austin, and I saw him do two again this year. It's clear that he's a great songwriter, but I couldn't really appreciate him as a performer without a band and only doing a few songs. But I was interested, and friend recommended George's Bar. Wow. It reminds me of the '70s, when I discovered Willie and Waylon and Jerry Jeff and Guy and Ray Wylie. I just went onto Amazon.com and bought everything else he did. This '97 release wins my award for best disc of 2000.

Pure Texas Music,

If you're tired of all the other junk that Nashville seems to keep throwing out, then you need to check out this CD. I've been going to see Pat live for about 3 years now and he is the ultimate entertainer. This CD is a great showcase for his talent. I especially like Snowin' on Raton, George's Bar, and Songs About Texas. Pat is truly destined for greatness.

Just one more reason why I love Texas!,

This CD reminds me of all the things I love about Texas. Pat is much like Robert Earl Keen (another Texas country artist), only his voice is sweeter and his lyrics aren't SO enlightened, but still good. Both artists obviously have a great love for this state which rubs off in the music. The songs themselves you can sing along to. I travel a lot, and "Songs about Texas" is the perfect thing to listen to when I'm homesick. The only dud on the album is "1-900 lover" which is just another lame Robert Earl Keen rip-off. Pat is at his best when he's not trying to be funny, but just singing about the creeks and the hills and the plains and the beers and all that great Texas stuff. All in all, the album is a real sweet thang!

COMPLETLY WORTH THE MONEY,

I bought Billy Bob's first so I was used to the newer live versions of Pat's songs, but after listening to "George's Bar" a couple of times, I fell in love with the studio versions of the songs as well. George's Bar is worth buying just to hear "Adios Days", which reminds me of James Taylor's "Sweet Baby James" but I can't even listen to the title track without tapping my foot and singing along. GREAT ALBUM PAT!

If your in to Texas music (JJW or REK)...you'll love Pat Green. He has the voice of Keen and the lyrics of Walker and is a blast to see live! George's Bar is his best CD. Just put it in your player, press repeat and enjoy!

Pat Green sings about the way Texas is and the way that it should be. Going out to the river and having a good time. If you want to hear good Texas music you have to have this CD.

The next big name in Texas Music.,

If you like Robert Earl Keen or Chris Wall, buy this CD. Produced by Lloyd Maines this CD is a road-trip favorite. The cover of Townes Van Zandt's Snowing on Raton is awesome with harmonies provided by Natalie Maines, lead singer of Dixie Chicks. Two Pat Green originals, John Wayne and Jesus and If I had a Million, really shine.
