I wage war., September 7, 2007
This review is from: Georges Clemenceau (World Leaders Past & Present) (Library Binding)
France needed a dynamic leader when they suffered reverses in the last part of 1917. They found it in Georges Clemenceau, a crusty old man committed to winning the war with Germany. This summary history of this great man shows his stubborn streak, and what made him outlast the Germans. His demands probably caused the Germans to become poor and look for a savior in another war. Clemenceau helped in the downfall of the Napeleon III regime and participated in the resistance to the royalist restoration. He was a liberal who wanted the best for the working classes of France.
This is a nice summary history of Georges Clemenceau. One can now know why Frenchmen called him the Old Tiger. He was a forminable opponent in both politics and war.
