About the Author

David Carter received his Ph.D. for research on Freud's aesthetics. He taught German Language and Literature at St. Andrews and Southampton universities, and also at Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur. He has lectured on Nietzsche, Schopenhauer, Film Theory and Psychoanalysis, and published on Film Studies, German Expressionism, Jacques Lacan, Psychoanalysis and Applied Linguistics. He lives at present in Seoul, South Korea, where he teaches at Yonsei University and writes on cultural themes for The Korea Times and The Korea Herald.
