5.0 out of 5 stars This book made my garden grow!, August 22, 1998
By A Customer
I have tired of reading gardening books written by someone in England or New York.

This book is written by two of us........and they know Georgia gardening! Bravo!

My garden has never looked better, and yours will too after listening to these two fellow Georgians.

1.0 out of 5 stars Hated it! Buy Month-By-Month Gardening in Georgia instead, December 14, 2004
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This book was pretty disappointing. The scope of the book was fairly small (one state) yet a surprising amount of plants are left out. The information it contains is ok, but you can get all that information and more in other sources. There is a lot of repeated information on soil amendment and not much information on the care of the individual plants. Often, 3/4 of a page is devoted to a description of the plant rather than it's care. Some references to varieties are given, but not nearly enough. Most planting explanations revolve around starting from seed, transplants are not often mentioned.

I would buy Month-by-Month Gardening in Georgia instead. I got it after I bought this one and it contains all of the information here (sometimes verbatim), but also includes month-by-month tips on caring for the plants.

5.0 out of 5 stars There's hope for novice Southern gardeners!, May 26, 2000

Riograce (metro Atlanta, Georgia) - See all my reviews
My husband and I are about to buy our first home, and are truly babes in the wood about landscaping and gardening. After reading (and re-reading) Walter's and Erica's book, I think I'm up to the challenge of creating a handsome yard that will survive our unpredictable winters and sultry summers. Their advice about what will grow and flourish (and more importantly, what *won't*) has been invaluable to me in planning what I want to plant in the months and years to come. A wonderful book!
