This review is from: Georgia O'Keeffe: Nature and Abstraction (Hardcover)
This is a WONDERFUL book.
It measures 10"x11", hardcover. The format of the book is basically an exhibit catalogue for "Nature and Abstraction"- each full color plate (77 of them -really lovely and large) is faced by a page with brief details of the artwork. There are about 30 pages of text/images that precede the true highlight of this book: 77 LARGE, FULL COLOR images, most of which take up the entire page they are on. There is not a lot of white space around the images, which is such a nice treat from the postage-stamp-size images in some art books. Some of the artwork featured is very famous (her flowers) and some of is is less known (some of her abstractions- so beautiful!) but it's all worth having. The pages of the book are thick and glossy, the images are in bright, vibrant color. If you're a Georgia O'Keeffe fan, and especially interested in her use of color, line, and detail, this book is a must-have. I have several books about her and I've always wanted one that was basically JUST her art without a lot of text. This books fits that need perfectly. |
