5.0 out of 5 stars Georgia OST
This soundtrack is great, if you've seen the film and want something to take you back there then this album is perfect. If you like soundtracks that have the voice clips surrounding the songs, then you will like this one.

1.0 out of 5 stars This CD was painful to listen to
Mare Winningham is great, but listening to Jennifer Jason Leigh sing is like fingernails on a chalkboard! I have Lonesomers by Mare Winningham and I absolutely LOVE IT. I have worn out 2 CD's! Thank goodless you can still find it on Amazon and ebay! Her voice is beautiful and her lyrics are interesting and heartfelt. I love the way some of the lyrics catch you off...

5.0 out of 5 stars Georgia: Soundtrack, October 30, 2008
This review is from: Georgia: Original Soundtrack (Audio CD)
I recently purchased this soundtrack because I have loved the movie, Georgia for many years and also really enjoy the singing. It is a fun to listen to CD. It has all the songs from the movie sung mostly by Mare Winningham and Jennifer Jason Leigh. Jennifer Jason Leigh is not a very good singer (that is how her role in the movie is played), but it is fun to listen to her and be able to think about the part she played so beautifully in the film. I was very happily surprised to find out that Mare Winningham did all of her own singing and some of the songwriting and also played the guitar. This very talented actress/singer really made the movie as great as it was with her portrayal of the title role of Georgia. You probably would want to see the movie first to see how the songs were integrated into the film which then makes it more fun to listen to the CD. Anyone who is a fan of these 2 actresses will probably enjoy the music from this film. Purchase the movie too!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Surprise, November 21, 2003

Was surprised that Mare could sing so well. Such a versitile actress. Have seen many of her films and was very taken with Georige, not with her sisters performance but that was what made the movie.

5.0 out of 5 stars Original and wonderful soundtrack, September 2, 2002

I don't know how I missed it but I hadn't seen the movie "Georgia" until I came across it on cable last month. This is an overlooked gem! I was immediately hooked on the music, especially when I saw that it had some John Doe stuff that was not released elsewhere. It took me 2 weeks to track down the CD and it was worth it, it hasn't left my CD player since. Mare Winningham and Jennifer Jason Leigh deliver some great cuts on this disk that was recorded live. The best track is "If I Wanted" which is a duet between the two leads. Give this disk a chance if you want to hear something fresh and different!

5.0 out of 5 stars Mare Winningham is enchanting, June 21, 2005
This review is from: Georgia: Original Soundtrack (Audio CD)
How many of you remember Mare Winningham winning the daily prize on The Gong Show in 1976 as "Sharon Shamus" singing Lennon/McCartney's "Here, There, and Everywhere"? I have been enchanted with her since that moment in time. The audience was enthralled (and surprised!) She's a wonderful actress, and I'll watch her in anything, but it's her singing voice that really touches my soul. I would love to own a recording of Mare's version of "Hard Times Come Again No More" from "Georgia", but loathe to think I would have to purchase the whole CD in order to have that one song. To echo the sentiment of another reviewer, if I want to hear Jennifer Jason Leigh sing, I'll strangle a couple of cats (no cruelty to animals implied). I also own "Lonesomers" and love every moment of it. Dear Mare, please give us more of your musical talent!

Her voice is so sweet & the music so soothing that when she sang "too much ass to kiss" I wondered if I heard it right. I highly recommend Lonesomers, but don't bother buying Georgia.
