Review

. . . One of the few detailed guides to an individual state in the former Soviet Union . . . -- Whole Earth Catalogue

. . . The best guide to Georgia . . . -- The New York Times

These handsome, well-edited books from a Hong Kong-based publisher cover places few other guidebooks go.... The writers are particularly well-chosen....Odyssey fans tend to be adventurous travelers with a literary bent. If you're lucky enough to find an Odyssey Guide to where you're going, grab it. -- National Geographic Traveler, February 2000

I read through this book with delight. Finally, I thought, the West can learn the true origin, history and present about Georgia. I am Georgian. I have been living in the US for over six years.

3.0 out of 5 stars A somewhat bleak view, December 17, 2003

I found this book to be helpful, yet I really do believe that it sounded a bit pessimistic at times. If this was the only book I read about Georgia, I may not want to go there...however, maybe the reality is a little grim.
