It sounds almost unbelievable. Easy-Hatch Soil + Water = Fish. Yet amazingly it is true. Simply immerse the EASY-HATCH “soil” containing the dormant eggs in the fish bowl filled with water. In a separate water dish, place dried brine shrimp. This is the fish food. After about 24 hours, the eggs will re-hydrate and hatch. The fish start out very tiny, but watch them grow. Within a few months, the fish will be fully grown (up to 2”), with dazzling tropical colors and shapes. Creating these fish is simply a miracle of Nature.

When you get this product, you get nothing but a flimsy plastic aquarium that required repair upon arrival. Next you spend another $15 "shipping" to get the "eggs" for the fish. I ordered extras just in case and when they arrived I received 3 bags with dirt in them. Two of the bags were labled "Palm" one was labeled "Test". Are these the eggs, who knows, but there is nobody to ask. Since they said the eggs looked like dirt, I threw this in and nothing happened. They have a website with a forum but the forum doesn't work and thats the only method of contact. My kid is very very disappointed and so am I. Do not waste your money!!

At least on the Magic butterfly garden, they tell you when you order that you have to order caterpillars for it. I got this as a gift for my niece for her fifth birthday yesterday. I had her so excited. We ran inside to set it up, and found out at the last minute that there are no eggs or anything, it's just a fancy plastic tank! So mabey in a week or so, and for an incredible $8.00 shipping, $12.00 if it's cold out, she can play with her new toy...What a let down..

Complete waste of money! I am so upset with this product. My son was so excited about the idea of hatching his own fish. The product is cheap and flimsy and does not come with the eggs. It took months to get the "eggs" and now that we have them...they never hatched. HORRIBLE!! My son is so completely disappointed. I wish I had read the reviews here before buying. Add to that the fact that you have absolutely no way to contact the company regarding this issue. This company should be reported.

Don't bother...find another product from a reputable company or simply buy some fish at the pet store and teach your kids the process some other way.

UPDATE 6/2/10: I replied to the "shipping confirmation" email I received when I ordered the fish and received a response. The company has sent out a new batch so we will see if this batch hatches. I am still rather disappointed in the quality of the product for the money and would still recommend looking into other options. The idea is a good one and it would be nice to see if others have had positive experiences with this product but so far I am not seeing that to be the case. I will definitely update again if the next batch hatch.
