Product Description

From the Manufacturer

Perfect for anyone under 110 Lbs (adults or kids), the ergonomically correct design allows a “stilt-ist” to walk in a more natural, upright position that encourages play. They’re made of sturdy aluminum (instead of the steel used in Walkaroo I), which makes them easier to carry and quicker to maneuver. As kids gain balancing skills, they can move the footrests higher for more challenge.

Product Description

Raising playtime to new heights! Stilts have been a favorite of children and adults for decades, but the basic stilt design has remained the same... until now! Air Kicks Walkaroo JR Stilts are easier to learn, easier to use, more ergonomically correct, and more FUN! Most stilts are simply straight poles with foot platforms attached to the sides. The tops of the poles rest behind the shoulders, forcing the upper body to slump forward. Not these! WALKAROOS have an S-bend which wraps comfortably around the shoulders, allowing you to remain upright for easier walking. Very similar to the Original Walkaroo Stilts, this sturdy aluminum model is lighter in weight, adjusts to three different heights, and costs less. Their light weight makes them easier to carry and quick to maneuver, even for younger children. Perfect for anyone under 110 lbs. (teens or kids, from age 5 and up), the ergonomically correct design of Walkaroo allows a "stilt-ist" to walk in a more natural, upright position that encourages active play (and teaches balance). As kids gain balancing skills, they can move the footrests higher for more challenge. Walkaroo JR feature non-marking, no-slip rubber feet and footrests, and comfortable foam cushioning on the handles and shoulder rests.

I'm a sucker for anything that would get my kids moving outdoors. I thought for sure my 8 and 5 year olds would love something like this. They definitely wanted to try it out when they saw it arrive.

Putting it together was easy. It required sticking two poles together and adding a handlebar. Everything goes together with a hex screw -- hex screwdrivers included.

The poles are lightweight and designed to work exactly as illustrated on the web page.

My 5 year old daughter was first. I had the foot rests on the lowest setting and the handlebars on the highest setting. At 44 inches, she was far too short for the bend in the pole to go under her armpits as shown. I raised the footrests as high as they would go hoping that would make her tall enough to get them under her armpits. Still no go. It was not possible for her to use it as intended, so she gave up.

My 8 year old son, 55 inches, did fit on the stilts. I placed the footrests back on the lowest setting and his armpits barely made it over the bend. If I placed the footrest one notch up, he would fit, but he felt so insecure, he did not want to continue trying.

What a shame. Neither of my kids are using this now. I'm hopeful that if I bring this out with other kids around or when my daughter grows a bit, my son will try it and maybe the kids will all enjoy it.

This really looks like fun, so I can't lower the ratings too much except that the age recommendation was off. My daughter is not short for her age and 5+ is just too young. It should be 8+.

I intend to come back to update this after I try it out on more children.

UPDATE: My children are older now. My son is ten and still does not want to use Walkaroo.

These stilts are well-made and easy for kids to learn to use. My almost 5 year old daughter was stepping around with little help in minutes. The only complaint I have is that they claim to be adjustable for kids as young as five. However on the lowest setting, there is no way that my daughter could reach her shoulders over the padded red parts that are supposed to go under the arms and behind the back.

The adjustment works by each stilt being made of two parts that slide one inside the other. When a setting point is reached, a little button pops out into a hole to hold the stilt at the set height. My husband happens to be handy, and he added an additional hole for a much shorter setting than the lowest allowed. My daughter is tall for her age, but the stilts would definitely be too tall for her.

These are solidly made. I would recommend them for any kids that want to walk on them, but they should probably be at least seven years old rather than five.

I just received my order today and got a different product than the one named here. This product is named "Geospace Walkeroo Stilts by Air Kicks - Light Weight". I read the top 3 reviews and looked at the video and thought I knew what I was ordering.

The box that arrived says "Geospace Walkaroo II Aluminum Stilts" and the main difference is the part where the child rests her feet. I thought I was a victim of a bait and switch but sure enough on closer scrutiny the picture of this product shows the one that arrived at my house.

I'm a little peaved at Amazon for getting the product name incorrect because this is not the product I wanted. Yet they appear to be decent stilts, my daughter is using them and I really don't have time for the hassle of returning them.

The good news for some parents is that the Walkeroo II Aluminum Stilts can have the foot step adjusted also. These stilts are more adaptable and will work with smaller children.

For some unfathomable reason the product description gives weight and age but not the measurement that matters most - height. My daughter is just shy of 52 inches tall and after adjusting the stilt settings for the shortest height, they fit her with a few inches to spare. Set for the shortest height the stilt measures 35 inches from the top of the foot step to the part where the stilt begins to curve to go under the arm. That is just the start of the curve so to be comfortable your child should probably be 38-39 inches from the bottom of the shoe to the armpit.

Hope this helps. The real page for the Walkeroo Stilts I wanted appear to be HERE:Geospace Walkaroo Stilts by Air Kicks

We got these stilts for a gift for our daughter. She loves them. They are well built, but still just a little to big for her(she is 9). She can still manage to maneuver around the house quite well. I would recommend them for purchase.

My children range in age from 9 to 13 years old. They all love using this toy. It's funny seeing a 9 year old able to master it faster than the 13 year old. So far it has held up to being used a lot!

Would have been nice if the stilts could accommodate multiple/varying heights. Seems to be only two settings...if not just right for your child's height, the stilts are a little awkward to use. If you have two children of different heights, you have to change the settings...which cannot be done just by 'clicking a button'.
