This train works fine. I've had problems with the sound effects on the remote on another train and I called Fisher Price. The remote needs to be reset. This is done by removing the batteries and moving the remote up and down 4-5 times.

We have purchased many of the accesories for the Geotrax system and the Crosstown Express Line has given us nothing but problems. We bought one, which seemed to have a short in the control handle (it had a lot of static then stopped making the sound effects). It took a lot of searching, but we finally found another and after a few weeks the replacement started to do the same thing. I gave it 2 stars in the fun category because the train still runs, and my son still plays with it, but the static sound can become annoying. It bothers me that this toy that I searched high and low for has malfunctioned TWICE!None of our other Geotrax trains & vehicles or the control handles have had this problem, and they run fine.

The Kids liked building the track and watching the train run but did not like the fact that it had no speed control or reverse. Train runs in one direction only and is either stopped or running, no in between.
