5.0 out of 5 stars Remote Control Fun
This train is a wonderful addition to our Geotrax setup. My 2-year-old has been pointing it out in the catalog for some time now. It consists of an engine (3 AAA batteries), a controller (3 AAA batteries) a dome seating car, a dome dining car (the tables are set), a piece of straight rail track and two rail end pieces (ramps).

3.0 out of 5 stars Geotrax engines lack durability
Maybe we just got lemons, but my son's first remote train, the oceanside flyer died after about 7 months of use. He was heartbroken and cried all night. A few weeks ago, we broke down and got him this one, and he LOVES it. It worked this morning, and then it died. I tried the batteries, nothing. He does not abuse these trains.

The engine has already been dropped on numerous occasion and is working fine. The simple control is easy to use (my son keeps both of our remote trains running independently).

Unlike remote and powered trains for wooden sets, this one works fine in the off position. The wheels turn well for pushing for that hands-on experience.

If you have the main set with the controller holder, you can get sound effects from the train.

All in all, a very low-cost addition with lots of fun. I personally use rechargeable batteries (never had a problem with them in any toy). It is nice that for once the controller uses AA or AAA and not a 9V.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than Thomas for young ones, November 19, 2004

Thomas is great but not very sturdy..And too expensive to keep adding, plus the pieces fall off, like the faces. So I tried this out and think it's great for my rough little boy who likes to throw or drop things on occasion.

Also I think you get more for your money with the geotrax system too. Who couldn't use a break on their wallet when they have kids.

The highland scenic train is another wonderful addition to the geo tract layout. My two grandsons are thrilled and I know they will stand up to a 2 year old and a five year old. All Fischer Price products can stand the test of many children and time.

A great item. My son loves Geo trax and this train is very hard to find. I am very happy I found it here. My son plays hard with his toys and I know this train will stand the test of time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Geotrax Remote Controlled Rail & Road System, July 19, 2005
This review is from: Geotrax Rail & Road System Highland Scenic Lines (Toy)
My sister-in-law first got a few of the trucks that go with this series last summer. My 3 yr old son saw the entire set in Toys R Us a couple of months later and left the store sobbing because we wouldn't buy the trains! So we knew what to get him for his birthday. That was last October and his collection has been growing ever since. He just loves this series, at least as much as his Thomas the Tank Engine wooden railway. We like it better because the parts are plastic and take a lot of abuse. And the remote control plug-ins are easy to use for a 3 1/2 yr old. Our 5 yr old daughter loves the Geotrax series as well.

The only thing we don't like is that the track packages don't come with any layout ideas. But I took one reviewers advise and went on eBay, where you can buy 3 different volumes of track layouts that one Dad created with a CAD program -- good stuff.

Choo Choo!

My son (3 1/2), loved this addition to his geotrax. This was one of the first things that he opened on Christmas day, which was probably a mistake... He refused to open the rest of his gifts and insisted on playing with his new train!

The GeoTrax Train System is a great addition to your kids toy collection! It provides hours of fun and enjoyment for both you and your child.

I found some "Track Layout Manuals" for the GeoTrax Rail System on eBay. If you've become frustrated with the track assembly process, then this is the answer. Volumes 1, 2 and 3 are available on eBay.

Search for "Geotrax layout" and you will find all three volumes. These layout designs were designed on a computer using CAD software and are of very high quality. It is well worth checking it out.

My child has played with Geo for 4 years now. We keep adding to the set and he loves it. We have a basement floor full of Geo Trax but they are still being used and that says a lot. Each new piece helps keep his interest in Geo.

A few weeks ago, we broke down and got him this one, and he LOVES it. It worked this morning, and then it died. I tried the batteries, nothing. He does not abuse these trains. He drives them around his track for hours, both by hand and with remote control. I'm almost as sad as he is when he cries "Can't you fix it, mom?" DOn't get me wrong, we love the Geotrax, but have had horrible luck with the engines :( We thought maybe the first one died because he would string 5 cars to it, and didn't let him do that with this one, but after only a few weeks, this is crazy!

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok, July 25, 2006
This review is from: Geotrax Rail & Road System Highland Scenic Lines (Toy)
We have a bunch of GeoTrax items and have been really pleased with them. However, this train tends to get stuck on some track pieces, while our other 2 trains don't seem to have a problem on the same pieces. Other than that, it's fine.
