I bought the Gerber 600 for my husband, who is a engineer for the Army...he loved it! It has everything a combat engineer could possibly need and with the name Gerber behind it, it's money well spent because he can have it his whole career and beyond.

I got this as a Christmas present for my guy. We are both in the Army and require different tools for our respectively different jobs within the military. Gerber is pretty much THE brand of tools most soldiers carry and the Gerber DET 07400 is excellent. It arrived in perfect condition and was smoothly operable out of the box. (It is my opinion that they get better over time). This particular tool is a must for Army Engineers. I am extremely happy with my purchase. I purchased this tool a few years ago now for work in the field and it has never let me down. I have used it for a wide variety of tasks, from opening cans to trimming the insulation off firing cables, to preparing plastic explosive and it has stood up well. Along the way it has been buried in mud and dropped into the water a few times (mind you Gerber include a Lanyard Ring on the tool so you can avoid this tragedy). The multi tool contains a variety of tool options that allow the person involved with EOD/Landmine Clearance/Explosive work to perfom any number of possible tasks without searching through toolboxes looking for another tool.In addition this multi-tool has a Detonator crimping attachment included into the plier jaws and with the addition of the recent tool bit set, the possible range of tasks the multi-tool can tackle is increased.

The knife blade continues to retain its edge with regular sharpening and a few drops of oil, or graphite powder, keep the tool operating flawlessly. With the needle nose plier head, the tool can be used to perform a variety of intricate jobs. Overall the tool is robust and long wearing.

I have had my tool for a number of years now, it has probably been superseded by some of the recent models, however I am still very happy with my Gerber 600, well done Gerber for giving us a great EOD tool!
