I was issued a leatherman tool to use on a maintenance job, and after much fussing and finger pinching, i turned it in and bought a Gerber. I have used it everyday for nearly 12 years. It's bullet proof, comfortable, and super handy. Gerbers warranty has been top notch, replacing a broken blade, (my bad) and later replacing the tool with an upgraded version when i broke the file. (my bad again) One of the best tools I've ever owned. and the only multi-tool I'll carry.

I first bought this model MP from Gerber back around 1995 and it was one of the best purchases ever for a Gerber product. I purchased a couple more through the years to replace lost ones and to have the "back-up one" with me. As of lately, I have had mixed feelings about the tool. The metal seems slightly thinner on the tools, the long blade has been replaced by a different type of blade (this I did not like a all...), and the option on the wire cutters is interesting. I have to purchase additional cutters?? Overall, it is a great tool to have for every day use or in a pinch.

Great tool. Comfortable grip when working with the tool. Neat quick draw pliers that is useful for my job. Easy to use locking blades.

one bad thing is that i've lightly pinch my finger between the handle and plier head a couple of times when going for a blade.

The nail file is only scored on the broadsides of the blade not on the edge. This however hasn't been a problem yet.

lastly I don't know what type of tool is needed to adjust the pressure needed to unfold a blade. This isn't a problem right now because it came with a great tension setting.

The gerber replace my stolen craftsman multitool that i loved. It had torox screws holding the blades so it could be adjusted. The only bad things about the craftsman is that it didn't have locking blades and they don't sell it anymore.

One last note is that i purchased it at target and it came with a flashlight that died after 2 weeks.

I've had my Gerber 600 for 5-6 years. It's very comfortable in my hand. I also like the locking mechanism. I've used just about every tool for all sorts of jobs. The 600 is perhaps one of most handy tools that I've ever owned.

This was recommended to me by my brother about 5 years ago. I have carried it almost everyday since then. Why? Because it is simply that versatile. I have used it for everything from fixing my house to working on my car to opening my computer. I have even used it at work when no one seemed to have a pair of pliers or screwdriver when it was called for. My brother works in demolition/construction and puts his tools through the worse torture I have seen and he still buys them. So why only 4 stars? For me the lack of a pair of scissors and a sunglasses size Phillips keeps it from perfect. However, the toolkit I saw offered might make this the best multi-tool out there.

I'm in the military, specifically the Army Infantry Corps, so obviously I'm going to use this product a lot, and I really have. I've had it for about 3 weeks and am really impressed. This is a great product. You can just feel the quality of the craftsmanship in it. However, I haven't had any communication with their customer service since I never needed to. The only reason that I'm giving it a 4 star instead of a 5 is because it doesn't include an obvious tool and that is a small pair of scissors. Yes it's not a big deal, but you'd be surprised how much you use those tiny scissors. Not for arts and crafts or gift-wrapping, but for various uses out in the field.

Just like other reviewers, I've had this tool for a long time - since 1995.

My dad re-gifted this to me thinking I'd get more use out of it than he did, and he was right. Its 2012 and I still use it frequently.

With use the slide has gotten very easy and its essentially a single hand open/close tool. Its very convenient when working on anything from electronics to landscaping, fishing to plumbing...or just fiddling in the garage. All tasks I've use this tool for.

The durability has impressed me the most. Aside from some minor wear, it looks like it did the day my dad gave it to me.

All of the plastic, which I thought would eventually wear/break, has stood the test of time. Also, the metal parts are all still intact despite my misuse of them many times.

If you are looking for a solid multi-tool, this item is as solid as they come.

At one point in the military we were issued Leatherman multi-tools. Having used both, I preferred the easy opening and sturdier handled Gerber. Some years ago, the Leatherman vanished from my work bench (damn kids!). I'm replacing it with a Gerber Flik.

Gift for my husband. He keeps it on the dash of his truck so it is always handy. Great buy!

This is a great little tool. I've carried one since 2008 and use it almost every day. Just bought a second one for my brother.
