Product Description

Down behind enemy lines? Left to fend for yourself? These are the scenarios that inspired the LMF II. Former military man, Jeff Freeman led the charge to engineer this fearless new 10" survival knife. And we field-tested with the troops. This knife is as adaptable as the personnel who carry it. Use it to cut through the skin of a fuselage. Or sever a seat belt. Or egress through the Plexiglas of a chopper. Plus, the LMF II does a slick job cutting firewood and building shelter. The over-molded handle successfully limits blistering. There is complete separation between the tang and butt cap, so the knife absorbs the shocks from hammering and prevents the shocks of electricity. Smartly situated grooves and lashing holes let the LMF II convert to a spear. The low-profile sheath facilitates movement, limits noise, works for parachuting, and attaches to a belt or MOLLE vest. The patented, integrated sharpener means edge retention in the field.

Being an avid adventurist and member of our great US Military, I have had the pleasure to experiment with many different knives. This one takes it. While a little on the bulky side, it does EVERYTHING you ask it to (except cook breakfast in the morning). The handle is way more comfortable than others I have used, however gets a little marred up when lashing the knife to a stick to create a spear. That being said, it skewers wild boar quite well (for those looking to go primitive) and it retains a good edge (not very common in 420C steel) but is mitigated by the built-in sharpening apparatus. Overall, I own 4 of these knives (should that tell you anything) because they work. I use one for hunting/skinning, one for the truck (because you never know when you will need one), one in the garage and one in my personal deployment kit. I even bought one for my 70 year old mother!

Again, a great knife, I would buy more, but I am running out of places to put them.

Great Knife August 18, 2010

This is a great knife all the way around. The blade came razor sharp right out of the box and looks to have a durable edge on it. The knife is very well made and I feel that the handle is comfotable. The sheath is molle compatable and the built in sharpener is great for in the field touch ups. The knife fits in the sheath very snug and the two retainer straps to hold the knife in the sheath were tight at first have loosened a little with use and now are nice and snug without being to hard to snap.
The only reason that I didn't give this knife five stars is that it is not OD Green, it is more or a grayish light green. So if you are looking for a knife to match your OD Green pack or vest (like I did) this knife will not match. Although the color does not reflect the proformance it would be nice for the color to be the correct color that it implies.

Had this knife for a month or so now and very impressed, does everything it claims to so far and being a excellent utility knife gets five stars from me the only gripe i have is with the weight,it is a bit heavy for some people ive let handle it but thats what makes it so robust and all around the best utility/outdoor knife ive ever had and the soft handle will get banged up and show its usage somewhat fast its only cosmetic blemishing but for what your getting in return its a small flaw in my opinion awesome knife,if its peaked your interest i say grab one!
