Product Description

Down behind enemy lines? Left to fend for yourself? These are the scenarios that inspired the LMF II. Former military man, Jeff Freeman led the charge to engineer this fearless new 10" survival knife. And we field-tested with the troops. This knife is as adaptable as the personnel who carry it. Use it to cut through the skin of a fuselage. Or sever a seat belt. Or egress through the Plexiglas of a chopper. Plus, the LMF II does a slick job cutting firewood and building shelter. The over-molded handle successfully limits blistering. There is complete separation between the tang and butt cap, so the knife absorbs the shocks from hammering and prevents the shocks of electricity. Smartly situated grooves and lashing holes let the LMF II convert to a spear. The low-profile sheath facilitates movement, limits noise, works for parachuting, and attaches to a belt or MOLLE vest. The patented, integrated sharpener means edge retention in the field.

Being an avid adventurist and member of our great US Military, I have had the pleasure to experiment with many different knives. This one takes it. While a little on the bulky side, it does EVERYTHING you ask it to (except cook breakfast in the morning). The handle is way more comfortable than others I have used, however gets a little marred up when lashing the knife to a stick to create a spear. That being said, it skewers wild boar quite well (for those looking to go primitive) and it retains a good edge (not very common in 420C steel) but is mitigated by the built-in sharpening apparatus. Overall, I own 4 of these knives (should that tell you anything) because they work. I use one for hunting/skinning, one for the truck (because you never know when you will need one), one in the garage and one in my personal deployment kit. I even bought one for my 70 year old mother!

Again, a great knife, I would buy more, but I am running out of places to put them.

Had this knife for a month or so now and very impressed, does everything it claims to so far and being a excellent utility knife gets five stars from me the only gripe i have is with the weight,it is a bit heavy for some people ive let handle it but thats what makes it so robust and all around the best utility/outdoor knife ive ever had and the soft handle will get banged up and show its usage somewhat fast its only cosmetic blemishing but for what your getting in return its a small flaw in my opinion awesome knife,if its peaked your interest i say grab one!

I am not going to write an extensive review on this knife since many other reviews have pointed out the strong points that I agree with. I bought this knife because I wanted a strong reliable survival style knife with by bug-out bag. This knife is perfect for that purpose and the MOLLE attachments allow me to attach it to the outside of my Maxpedition Condor-II Backpack

This is a sharp blade and I managed to cut myself with serrations with absolutely no effort. I can tell its well made my just handling it and it fits in my hand perfectly. Some may complain about the weight, but I am willing to accept it for the pros that come with hardier construction. I have not used the glass breaker and i hope I never have to but I am fully confident that it will make short work of most any window.

The sheath is very nice, but is pretty tight. Some may complain about this, but I knew about it going into the purchase. Also the two retention straps are plus. The one closest to the blade was rather difficult to close at first but after snapping it closed and letting it stretch, it now works much better.

I would totally buy this knife again and I may end up adding another for redundancy in the future.

Pros:
Very Sharp Blade
Made in the USA
Great features (Glass Breaker, Holes for lashing to stick)
Great Sheath (Very secure, MOLLE Compatible, built in sharpener)

Cons:
Kind of heavy
Hard to remove from sheath with one hand

I bought this knife three weeks ago, primarily because I wanted to invest in a good quality outdoor knife I could take hiking etc.

First impressions were that it is a well made heavy duty knife, with a very solid thick blade. I did the standard paper cut test to see how sharp the blade was, unfortunately it was extremely dull - I have since sharpened it and it seems to retain its edge fairly well now.

The sheath is somewhat cumbersome and it is difficult to pull the knife out without a significant amount of force (requiring two hands to safely access the knife). I have also noticed that part of the rubberised grip on the knife is being pulled away from the centre of the grip, due to the force required to pull the knife from the sheath. I will repair this myself before it degrades further, however I hope that this is addressed in future revisions of the Gerber LMF knife.

I can only give the knife 3 out of 5 stars because the blade arrived dull and the sheath is causing damage to the rubberised grip after only a minimal amount of use. Please feel free to send through any questions about knife or points I may have missed in the review. Thanks.

I bought this knife because I liked the first Gerber LMF knife I got in black then I bought the coyote Gerber LMF. So, I have three Gerber LMF knives!!!! I like the Gerber LMF knives for their quality and being made in the USA. The knife comes razor sharp out of the box (with a little factory oil on the blade). The sheath is incredible and great quality! The sheath is MOLLE compatible and has double snap retention. Along with that the knife "snaps" into place and won"t come out. The knife was made for the helicopter pilots to have a combat/survival knife in case their bird goes down. The handle is grippy and feels secure in your hand even when wet. Good ergonomics on the hand contour. Great quality overall form the knife to the sheath that why I bought three of them!!!!

I did a ton of research before buying this knife. By all accounts it's a great tool. Out of the box it was dull, I paid a local knife sharpening company to get it sharp for me. It's a handsome knife and the sheath is awesome. Took it on a camping trip a few days ago and during basic use it was damaged. The metal is fine and still works however whilst batoning a piece of pine the handle was damage and the rubber and plastic piece broke. It no longer fits in the sheath as it should without much finagling. It's a nice knife but I would not buy again. I'd rather get my money back and buy a Becker. I wish Gerber would have spent less time and money hyping the knife and more time on quality.
