Product Description

From the Manufacturer

The Gerber 22-01968 Remix Clip Folder Knife with serrated edge has a one-handed opening design with large finger hole to use for extra stability and grip. Titanium coated aluminum handles keep it lightweight and strong. Stainless steel liners give is more support. Savvy, Ingenuity, Craftsmanship. Attention to detail. These are just a few of the company traits that contributed to our emergence as a world leader in outdoor gear. But then there's the issue of toughness. And frankly, nothing could be tougher than living down the first career of founder Joseph Gerber as that's right, an advertising man. You could call it the "Boy Named Sue" syndrome. And live it down we have. Joseph Gerber started Portland, Oregon's Gerber Advertising back in 1910. One Christmas, he hired a local knife maker to craft 25 sets of kitchen cutlery as client gifts. The knives were so popular, Mr. Gerber ultimately left his agency to launch Gerber Legendary Blades in 1939. It makes sense, really. An idea man gets the idea of a lifetime and turns it into a major outdoor brand. One that commands respect among knife lovers and knife makers alike. And now that high regard is spreading in new directions, in the form of many outstanding products. Such as tools, personal L.E.D. lighting and backpack hydration. With a history like ours and products like these, its no wonder we are completely unafraid of the future

1.0 out of 5 stars Gerber Remix sliding lock...Fail., March 30, 2009
This review is from: Gerber 22-01968 Remix Clip Folder Knife with Fine Edge (Tools & Home Improvement)
I purchased the fine edge and serrated edge Remix and found that the locking mechanism is prone to failure.

If interested, see my video review under the serrated edge Remix comments section.

I like the knife for the most part, but I do not advise buying until Gerber fixes the way it locks! The plastic in the spine bends and fails if any rope cutting force is applied. Love the edge and the way it feels that I give 5 stars but Locking is a complete 0. Suggest fixed blade version of this knife if you must have. I recommend Gerber trades Either the plastic in the spine with stainless or aluminum or redesigns with lever lock back which would make it easier to open.

I got the knife in the projected time frame, but when I got it, despite the thorough packaging, it was somehow dotted with tiny amounts of rust. I mean, it's a good knife and all, and the rust hasn't spread, it's just... there. Maybe it was an off-balance mix, resulting in an alloy that wasn't stainless everywhere. Who knows? I kept it, though, since it looked sound, and it seems to be doing just what it was made to do. No complaints about the durability, and it's not very hard to clean it (just use a Q-tip on the inside, and it's fine). The ring grip might take a bit of getting used to, but it's very comfortable once you're used to it.
