Product Description

From the Manufacturer

The Gerber Answer 3.25 Tanto Drop Point knife is a medium sized tactical folder with quick opening F.A.S.T technology. Aluminum handles keep it lightweight and the textured inlays give it extra grip. Tanto shape for thrusting, blade length 3.30-Inch, open length 4.55-Inch and closed length 7.85-Inch. Gerber, A brand you can trust. In 1939 Joseph Gerber hired a local knife maker to build 25 sets of kitchen cutlery to be given as Christmas gifts. The knives were so popular that Joseph Gerber left his advertising agency to start Gerber Legendary Blades. The unique style and high quality manufacturing of Gerber cutlery soon developed wide spread acclaim. In fact, Gerber Legendary Blades are the only cutlery on display in New York's famous Museum of Modern Art. From very early on, Gerber collaborated with top knife designers, setting a standard of quality for everyone else to follow. Renowned designers such as Al Mar, Bob Loveless, Paul Poehlmann, "Blackie" Collins, William Harsey Junior and Ernest Emerson have all designed knives for Gerber. In 2002 this tradition continued as Gerber released the Silver Trident, designed by Chief James "Patches" Watson (U.S.N. Ret.) and Bill Harsey Junior. Today, Gerber continues to design and manufacture unique, high quality outdoor recreation products. In 2003 we are proud to introduce the next generation of multi-tools: the Recoil Auto-Plier. By constantly utilizing new technology and innovative design to develop new products, Gerber continues to be an industry leader

3.0 out of 5 stars The knife broke, August 22, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Gerber 22-01971 Answer 3.25 Drop Point Knife with Fine Edge (Tools & Home Improvement)
I want to make it clear from the beginning that I do like this knife. The reason why I gave 3 stars is because it broke after three weeks of using it. I bought this knife because I wanted a Spring Assisted Opening knife. I also wanted to replace my old Gerber Paraframe that I have had for a few years. First off, I wish this knife had a partly serrated blade, but I can with without it. The spring is powerful enough to open the blade easily, but you can stop the blade mid opening and the blade won't continue. Just noting for anyone who wants a powerful spring.
What happen? Well I was showing the knife off to my friend a few weeks after I got the knife, and the spring inside snapped. I was just opening and closing the blade, and showing off the locking mechanism. I sent my knife in for warranty, and know that it has been delivered. Now I'm just waiting for a reply. I don't know if this is typical of this knife or if I just got a bad one. Hope this review helped.
Pros:
Large
Sharp Blade
Knife sits well in your hand, very comfortable
Good Balance
Black matte finish (i like, but it might not stand up to wear very well. Don't know)
Easy to open

Cons:
Large (I have big hands so it doesn't bother me, but someone with smaller hands might have trouble closing it one handed)
Not the most powerful spring, but gets the job done.
Closing one handed takes some getting use to.
The Spring broke.

4.0 out of 5 stars Gerber Answer 3.25, December 7, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Gerber 22-01971 Answer 3.25 Drop Point Knife with Fine Edge (Tools & Home Improvement)
This is a replacement to my Benchmade auto knife. Although this isnt a fully auto open knife, it is really great with the spring assisted or FAST. It also comes with a clip to attach to your pants so its always in hands reach. The blade was sharp, but not as sharp as I liked it so a quick sharpening fixed that. It is a very good knife for the price!

5.0 out of 5 stars Gerber Answer F.A.S.T, October 16, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Gerber 22-01971 Answer 3.25 Drop Point Knife with Fine Edge (Tools & Home Improvement)
I love this knife. I bought it to suppliment my knife collection of Paraframe I&II knives. I wanted a fine edge spring assisted knife that was between 3 and 4 inches long, and this fit the bill. My paraframe II just doesn't hold a sharp edge for very long. This Gerber Answer knife is a fantastic substitute for my personally carried knife. The spring assisted action is flawless. The locking mechanism is functional, but seems clunky and might have a tendency to stick with the blade open. The handle is just about right for someone with big hands, and the grip is very nice too. The knife sets down low in my pocket compared to my paraframe II, and the edges are smoothe enough that you can still easily get your hand in your pocket when the knife is there. The blade isn't the sharpest thing in the world. It wont shave hairs, but is still decently sharp.
