I've always preferred the Gerber multitools' ability to "flick" out and open. I bought two of them over ten years ago, and they remain excellent tools. It appears that those tools have been refined. Those two multitools I bought ten years ago feel much flimsier than this one. The 'Flik' now appears to include the sturdiness of a Leatherman. More than any of Gerber's multitools I've tried before, this feels solid, and pleasantly heavy. The included scissors are absolutely great. I wasn't interested in the presence of scissors at all, but I find I use them more than the knife blade. There are two saws on this multitool, and I'm not sure why. Both are quite sharp though.

I do have a couple of gripes, though. It took me a few tries to figure out how the locking mechanism for the jaws worked. The "inner" bits (screw driver heads, particularly the Phillips) are nearly impossible to get out. I have to pull other accessories open to work my way to the bit I want. The bits include a notch for fingernail access, but other accessories block access to them. The knife blade feels like it may be slightly dull from the factory. My biggest problem with this tool though is that the wire cutter simply doesn't work. It won't cut through Cat6 UTP. There's simply too much of an 'air gap' between the jaws at the wire cutter. Upon further inspection the wire cutter is malformed, as if I had used it to try to snip wire rod. But it is brand new.

All in all, I still stand by this multitool and am pleased with my purchase.

This was a Christmas gift for my husband and he really liked it. So far no problems with anything. He said the knife was very sharp, scissors work great and he likes the lock that are on the tools. Only complaint was he might have to replace the sheath because it felt a little cheap.

I have been giving my son a new Gerber for Christmas every year for about fifteen years. I loves them and always has one on his belt for use.

I saw this here on Amazon and ended up purchasing at a brick and mortar after handling it. In fact I bought two. Love, love, love this tool. It's not a SOG Multi-tool but the Flik absolutely follows the reputation Gerber has long held for manufacturing first rate products. Excellent steel, sharp enough to shave with (not very comfortably though, yes I actually shaved a bit with it), long lasting edge, solid construction. It's a Gerber; excellent product, excellent price, excellent value.

The straight edge blade has a super strong point. The serrated blade cuts very well. The saw blade is top notch, you can definitely cut wood with this. I tried a 1.5 inch and 2 inch limb. It works great! The scissors are tight so they cut very well. The pliers and wire cutter are completely functional. The only down side is that the Philips driver bit is very small. It would be nice if it was larger, more like the Philips bit on my 25 year old Victorinox multi-tool. That's a tool you can shave with, it holds a true razors edge.

The last note on this is about the locking mechanisms. They are strong, very strong.

I will buy another one for my other son.
