This is a very nice knife. I upgraded to this knife for a few reasons. First a gut hook. A gut hook is a must for a deer hunter since you can safely start to field dress the deer without damaging the gut. Damage the gut and risk ruining the meat. The handle is very comfortable for big hands. It has a textured grip so you can easily use the knife in wet conditions without worrying too much. The last thing you want is to field dress a deer and slip. The knife is a good knife and it is relatively sharp, but not sharp enough for my taste. I could not cut the blister package it came in without putting a dangerous amount of force behind it. I was able to cut veggies into super thin slices so it was sharp for certain things. Luckily there was a sale on a chef's choice knife sharpener online and they work great with hunting knives. Using a knife for hunting and processing deer is hard on the blade. If you buy this knife I would plan on getting a sharpener. For those being cheap, the Furi Ozitech sharpener (Rachael Ray endorsed) do not work with these. Already tried since I am a kitchen nut as well. The sharpness is kind of normal. My first hunting knife was about as sharp and they can be sharpened to a great edge with a decent sharpener. For me, this was the first quality hunting knife that was under $30, had a good grip, foldable, name brand, gut hook, sharp, and used a quality metal. I do recommend this knife, just wish it was sharper. I was going to buy a quality knife sharpener anyways, just buying it sooner. They really are a good investment for not only hunting, but cooking. Remember a sharp knife is a safe knife.

This is a great knife for field dressing deer. Used it yesterday on a buck straight out of the box and it was razor sharp. It also did better than any knife I have use cutting through the ribs and pelvic bone. This excellent knife fits my hand well and the rubberized grip never slipped in my bloody hands.

I lost my previous Gerber knife and bought this one as a replacement for deer season. Shipping was prompt from Amazon and the knife arrived with a very sharp edge. Used this knife to gut a deer that i shot and it worked great. We later used it to process the deer and i found that the knife lost it's edge relatively quickly. It resharpened well though. All in all a good knife for the price.

My daughter gave me a twenty-five dollar Amazon gift certificate for Father's day. I had just gutted out one of our goats and I had mentioned how I missed my old gutter hunting knife. After searching the Internet I noticed this knife and the new Gerber gutting knife. Both have the same blade and this one is half the price. It is not fancy, but it does a good job. Now, if I don't leave this one laying somewhere in the forest, I think it will last a lifetime.

The Gerber Profile folding Gut knife is an outstanding tool for the price. Gerber knives are some of the best instruments in the industry. I have used Gerber knives for years and when my future son-in-law needed his first gut knife,I purchased this knife for him. This is a perfect hunting knife. I would recommend this knife to anyone in need of a quality hunting knife at an affordable price.
