From the Manufacturer

The Gerber 22-41982 telescoping pruner allows you to quickly cut through branches up to 7/8-Inch Diameter in one motion. Uses similar design as Fiskars to improve cutting power by 3X over current telecutter. Die cast aluminum threads hold saw and pruning heads securely into telescoping pole. Push button design to release pole extensions. Stiffer and heavier duty pole make cutting and pruning easier. Saw blade is 2--Inch longer to cut through the limb quickly. Total pole extension 60--Inch. With saw 74--Inch and with pruner 75--Inch

This is the 'new model' which has an oval shaped telescoping handle with push button release/lock.
Had the old model with tubular telescoping handle,
works so well my aunt decided to keep it after she tried it once and gave me money to go buy myself a new one.

The bad:
The push button telescoping section lock tends to stick or fail completely.
When it sticks it will scrap the anodized aluminum body as you pull it in/out.
When it fails you need to drive a cross-pin out and reassemble.

The good:
Sleek looking, Works well otherwise.
If it binds on a branch you are trying to cut just tug on the handle a few times and the jaws will pop open and release.
Good luck getting the hook type cutter to release when it binds (gave them up decades ago).

The telescoping stops failed a fey times and then the middle section topper slipped. It is now held in place by duct tape. The lopper blade snapped on day 4. The saw is decent, but if rotates on its mounting threads mking it very tricky to use.

I've used it around the house for trimming, but haven't gone to the woods with it yet. The pruners work great, but the saw blade could be a better design. It doesn't cut as fast as the gerber hand saw I carry in my pack. The teeth are not as sharp as my compact saw. Wish gerber would offer a blade with the same teeth as my compact saw. It'd rip through some limbs then. The best feature about this saw in my opinion is that the pruners/saw screw on to any standard extension pole (painters pole) so you can use the 5ft that comes with it or attach it to a 16ft extension.

Was not put together properly. Cheap feel to material. Saw is worthless on but the softest of wood. El'cheapo saw from Wally world works better at more than half of cost. Gerber knives are second to none. From my own pocket to ones at work, best knife out there. Not true for saw and pruner .

I like the way that Gerber has improved their Pruner, it seams to be much more rigid that their older model. I am looking forward to using it this fall.
