This knife is very well made and is a great knife for pocket carry. Build quality is excellent. It is also very attractive. The reason that I did not give it a 5 star rating is that my knife was very difficult to open and close. I actually damaged my fingernails trying to close it. Amazon refunded my money when I contacted them. I thought this was great service on their part. I also bought the Winchester 3 inch version of this knife from Amazon and it is flawless and incredibly easy to open and close. I have a separate review for this knife.

I already have a knife that looks almost exactly like this one except the blade is labeled "MAXAM" instead of Winchester. It has been my favorite pocket knife, but it is getting a little worn out, and I wanted a replacement (and maybe give one to my son as a gift) So I ordered two of these.

At first glance they looked decent. Almost as good of quality as my original, but the blades look to be of a lesser quality steel, and have rougher machining.

One knife is better than the other. The lesser of the two has a chunk missing out of the wood, and it is much harder to move the blade.

Overall, it was a decent purchase for the price. Nether one is as nice as my original, but the nicer of the two will go to my son as a gift (because he has often praised my original) and the other one will be my utility truck knife. My old trusty Maxam will still serve me as my main pocket knife until I find something I like better.

I also have the 3" version of this knife that I got years ago at Walmart and now saw the smaller one and wanted it too. I like both of them. I've had mixed results with knives with "Winchester" on them, but these and some other folding ones I have are really nice.

The wood looks good and the rivets and wood itself are all tight and flush. The blade is sharp (maybe not razor sharp, but could be sharpened). I also really like the clip - I'm not fond of holsters.

I like one-hand opening and closing action and the overall portability and utility of these.

I have had 3 of these Winchester knives (2 of the short ones and 1 longer). They're mostly well made, strong, and sharp. Excellent for the price. Of the three knives, one was perfect and the other two had minor issues. The longer one had faults in the varnish on the wood grain. It was like a drip that had hardened. Not a huge deal. The other knife's closing mechanism is slightly misaligned. It's difficult to get the lock out of the way so the blade can close. On the plus side, the longer knife is very heavy and solidly made. I really like their look and feel.

Have had this in the collection for a few years now. I don't use it as an every day beater simply because of its weight. But I'm keeping it at 4 stars because it holds an edge pretty good, and after a few years of keeping it in tackle/tool boxes it still flips open smoothly.
I would deferentially recommend this as a utility knife, so long as you don't have to wear khakis/slacks to work it might work for you as an every day knife.

I own the 3 inch blade version of this knife, and really like it. I decided to order the smaller version, and I'm kind of disappointed with it. The blade is difficult to open, and even harder for me to close. It just seems that the liner lock is incredibly stiff, much more so than my 3 inch version of this knife. Makes it so I have to use both hands to close the knife, and that's a first for me.

This is not a no-maintenance blade. Without some kind of continuous lubing/oiling, the folding mechanism gets stiff. With mine, if it wasn't oiled up, the liner lock(piece of metal that locks the blade in place) wasn't fully engaging making it super easy for the blade to accidentally close. When I oiled the knife up, the liner lock engaged every time. This knife MUST be oiled to be safe.

So I wrote a review of the 3 inch version of this knife also. Everyone in my family carries a matching knife, and it's either this one or the slightly larger but otherwise identical knife, based on individual preference and what we might be wearing (I have one of each, big knife in jeans, small knife in dress clothes). I love these solid little knives.
