Gerber 22-49445 10-Piece Tool Kit

You can add to the versatility of many Gerber Multi-Plier models with the addition of this Gerber 22-49445 Tool Kit. There are many excellent tool and blades that come built into these multi-tools, but if you're looking to expand the functionality of these products, then this is a reasonably priced way to do it.

I have a Gerber Suspension Multi-Plier, which is used on an almost daily basis. Sometimes it's just not convenient to go running for a tool kit when doing those 'quick-and-dirty' jobs, and this tool kit looked like a great convenience, so I bought it. The single-ended bits that came with it were:

* Three flat bits, marked #3, #5, #7
* Three Phillips (crosshead) bits, P1, P2, P3
* Three hex bits, 3mm, 4mm, 6mm

The heart of this tool kit is the magnetic bit adapter, which slips easily onto the multi-pliers' extended Phillips (crosshead) screwdriver blade. Once this is done, it holds the bits easily. The adapter and the bits are stored inside an included black molded flexible holder, and a black ballistic cloth nylon sheath with a belt loop comes with it. The adapter accepts any standard single-ended 1/4'' hex bit on the market, be it slotted, Phillips, square, Torx or hex. For example, I had a need for a Torx Driver Tamper Proof Security Bits Set for use with certain computer and general applications. They worked quite well with the magnetic adapter, and there's enough room to to store this and other bit sets in the tool kit's nylon sheath.

According to the manufacturer, this Multi-Plier Tool Kit fits the Gerber Flik, Freehand, Diesel, Radius, Method, Tread, Crus and Suspension multi-tools. If it has one of those flat crosshead blades, as do these, it should work. There may be other Gerber models that will work with this handy kit, but if you have one of those, it might be best to check the directions that came with the product. There's a different 10-Piece Tool Kit available for Gerber's MP400, MP600, MP650, MP700, MP800, but I have no experience with it. I personally wouldn't use these with a model that didn't have a locking crosshead blade, if just for safety reasons. One thing for sure is that there will not work with the Gerber Clutch Mini Pliers... it's just too small.

This Gerber Tool Kit is a great idea, one that allows you to extend your tool usage immensely by adding any 1/4" single-ended bit to your multi-pliers. It's an excellent solution if you're looking to maximize the performance of your Gerber Multi-Plier, while still maintaining a high level of versatility.

Highly recommended for those with such a need.

Bought the accessory took kit with the Suspension because the new Suspension tools from Gerber do not include these. Worked fine. It would be better if the Accessories came with a pouch that would hold the tool and the accessory tool kit rather than just the accessories.

Toolkit is relatively small. Fits on back of my belt. Can sit in car, carts without problem. There is a little wiggle when the adapter/add-on tool is slid over the slim Phillips in the Gerber Diesel multi-plier but someone with a Leatherman product exclaimed that the fit and feel was great as compared to his add-on toolkit.

I bought this to compliment the Multi-Plier that I've been carrying around for the last ten years or so. My MP600 has seen the most use of any tool I've ever owned and I wanted to increase it's functionality.

Problem is, as I said in my title, I didn't do my homework. It doesn't work with my tool. The adapter receptacle is a small, rectangular socket. Amazon's description specifically states:

"With an adaptor that mounts to the crosshead bit on a variety of Gerber Multi-Pliers, you can customize your multi-tool to fit your needs."

Now, without owning one of the models listed, I can't say for certain that one of the other tools might not have a cross point bit that is tiny enough to fit in this adapter, but logic tends to dictate that is was intended more for a robust flat head bit or a purpose built tool.

Now, as to what I got, the tools are well made and have a variety of bits. Anyone who has ever turned a driver in their life understands that you can get away with using a flat head screwdriver on most anything, you can get away with one size Phillips on most things and that you need the exact Torx bit to get the job done. No fudging that one.

The fact that you are going to use a Multi Tool as opposed to a purpose made tool makes it even more important to use the right tool (or bit, as the case may be) for the job. This accessory kit fits the bill quite nicely. These are quality bits that although can't be used with my MP600, they will end up replacing an aging set of bits that have needed to be replaced for some time.

The rubber holder for these bits actually holds them in place snugly. You won't have any worries about one of them slipping out and getting lost. The pouch, however, is... well... large. It has two interior pockets, although I'm not sure what you'd use the second one for.

I don't particularly want to carry a second pouch on my belt, so I have a pouch from Nite Ize that holds my tool, mini mag light, has a clip for my keys and has a second pocket in the back that will be the perfect home for a correct accessory kit (see link) when I order it.

The fact that I do intend on ordering the right model of the same thing should be a pretty good endorsement of the product itself. Just remember what I said. Don't be sloppy like I was. Do your homework first...

The tool kit is in a seperate pouch meaing that one would have to have two pouches on his belt. Leatherman tools have the extra tools in the same pouch as the multi tool.

I was a little apprehensive about this Gerber add-on. My first concern was the pouch. I didn't want an extra one on my belt. Well, my Gerber Diesel Multi-tool fits in the pouch along with the tool kit, and probably fits better than the pouch my Diesel came with. The extra bits aren't rock solid but they do the job fine. I thought they would slip off but they have stayed on just fine.

I was very happy with my purchase. I received the the Gerber Suspension as a Christmas present. I have owned other Gerber tools in the past and knew there was a tool kit that could be added. I found the 10pc tool kit on Amazon for a good price. The set came with a new case, 10 bits, and a bit holder that fits into the new case. I thought the new tool kit had a great assortment of sizes, and this is an improvement over the other Gerber multitool that I have owned in the past. The old tool kits had 6 bits, a bit holder, and a case that you had to pull off your belt to use the additional tool bits.

The Gerber multi tool, and for that matter multi-tools in general, are great tools to carry around. I am always fixing things instead of having to wait for someone else to come and fix it. Its almost like having a toolkit on your belt.

Before I bought this item, I checked the picture of the Gerber 01471 Suspension Butterfly Opening Multi-Plier, with Sheath and it clearly shows that this item is compatible with the said multi-plier. But lo and behold, the fit is horrible, it wiggles all the time! I even tried it with my old time Gerber with the same result. Its just not worth the hassle and money to get this one for your Gerber multi-plier knives.

Does not fit my Gerber MP400, and there's no way to tell from the description whether it does or does not.
