excellent blade, incredible tool,

This review is from: Gerber Nautilus Multitool (Misc.)
This is my first Gerber Blade. I've found it of incredible quality, with great security features, as well as incredibly built and designed. A very far away step from the pocket knife we're all used to. The blade, the tools, and of course the light are really good. Comes with a real sturdy case to store it in.

Useful Tool - love the flashlight - a little toolbox in your pocket,

If you ever watched Mission Impossible or MacGyver, you need a pocket multi-tool like Gerber's Nautilus. It has a lot of useful tools like screw drivers and a decent (but not great) blade. The size is a little chunkey so mine sits in the glovebox, not my pocket or belt. But the small, bright flashlight is really cool. It changes a "so so" product, into a gotta have product. Some reasons for only 4 stars? The edge on my blade had a burr that needed sharpening to remove. I chipped my fingernail trying to get at the scissors. And the thing has a kinda "made in China" feel. I bought one so it's not that bad. I think Leatherman products (some a lot more money) have a higher quality feel but you may not think so. And the shape is really cool so give it a look.

Major Cool - Foolish Tool / Not representative of Gerber's usual quality,

So, this is the tool for folks who watch... Oh, never mind.I am actually fairly impressed with a lot of Gerber's stuff. Their Big Rock and Freeman fixed blade Knives are great blades for the money and my wife has had a Compact Sport Multi-Plier 400 for several years which we both like a lot. But I can't for the life of me figure out what they were thinking of when they cooked up this thing. Captain Nemo, maybe. I received mine as a gift a few years ago and when I first saw it I said "Wow! Cool!" just like a lot of other people. But the balloon quickly burst when I actually tried USING it. Reasons for giving it 1 star? The main reason is that Amazon doesn't give me the option to rate it at zero. The things I like, though not enough to really think it is worth a full one star rating, are that it is blue & doesn't weigh much. Of course, it doesn't offer much either. The things I don't like? It is too bulky to go in your pocket, while featuring only the basic tools, and average ones at best. If you try using the screwdrivers, the shape of the handle makes them want to swirl around your screwhead instead of seating firmly in the slot. As for the light, the batteries on mine were dead when I got it. I replaced the batteries and the next time I went to use it a few days later the batteries were dead. Then when I replaced the batteries a second time they went dead again, almost immediately. And the answer is "No, I didn't put it away with the light burning". I haven't tried replacing the batteries a third time. I can be taught. I understand that Gerber is no longer manufacturing this product and I think I know why. But there are a lot of them still out there with various retail outlets. Buyer beware.
